But really I too don't understand the comparison of those two books, the Chronicles of Narnia are nothing like the LOTR books
I never saw the cartoon but I did see the BBCs versions of that book, Prince Caspian, The Silver Chair and the Dawn Treader. Class stuff

the Lord of the rings was written as letters to Christopher Tolkien (the proffessors son) during world war 1.
WW1 was significently before 1954.
