Greetings, and welcome to Anime Versus. Like it's predecessors, Anime Versus will pit two competitors against each other each week, to see which one PPTers prefer. The winner of the week will move onto the next round, and will face a new challenger anime. Should an anime win for six weeks straight, it will be removed from the competition and placed into the Anime Hall of Fame.

Last week, Cowboy Bebop defeated Trigun by four votes. This week, it will face a new anime.

Series Information:

Cowboy Bebop is another action-comedy and was produced by Bandai Visual/Sunrise. It's Japanese run was from 4/3/1998 to 4/23/1999 (26 episodes).* It too has been a staple on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim in the United States.

In Cowboy Bebop, the viewer follows the adventures of Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, Faye Valentine, a little girl named Ed, and of course, the dog Ein, as they move through the solar system working as bounty hunters. While many anime seem to follow a linear movement, Cowboy Bebop is much more episodic, often with the previous episode having nothing to do with the one that follows. However, there is a main plot, and that is looking at Spike's past, which while never entirely into focus, deals mostly with betrayal and a lost love.

Ranma 1/2 is an action-comedy produced by Shogakukan which originally showed in Japan from 4/15/1989 to 9/25/1992 (161 episodes).* While it has been available in the US for quite awhile via VHS and DVD, it has never shown on network television (to the best of my knowledge).

When Ranma and his father Genma went to Jusenkyo, China for their martial arts training, they never expected the predicament they would find themselves in. After falling into cursed springs, they found themselves changing forms when splashed with cold water: Ranma into a girl and Genma into a panda. Things get sticky when Ranma moves in with his fiancee, a girl he can't stand and who can't stand him. Much martial arts and form-changing mayhem ensues.

Cowboy Bebop most definately. The 'Livin in the Fridge' episode just rocks my socks.

Ranma 1/2! It's frickin' hillarious, and I've got a huge emotional and nostalgic attatchment to it, since it was my first manga. Seriously, how could you NOT love a series where everyone's either a pervert, cursed, or both?

Livin in the Fridge? Anything that shares a name with a Weird Al song has to be awesome. :P

That episode was worthy of that song. One of the funniest things I've seen outside of an Azumanga Daioh episode.

I haven't seen either of them, nor heard of them. I read the descriptions and Ranma sounds great, I voted for it.

Ranma 1/2! I've been attached to it ever since I read this REALLY good fanfic of it! Besides, I don't like Cowboy Bebop's art either... so dark and yeah... don't like the people =(.

I voted for Cowboy Bebop. Although I love both of these animes for different reasons. I'm a bit sentimental about Ranma 1/2 because it was one of the first animes I ever saw, but I adore Cowboy Bebop. :(
