I'm trying to teach myself how to cry for acting [a scene I'm doing now calls for it, but mostly in general]. Since I have no good crying memories and I'm still trying to teach myself how to get into the character so that I can feel those emotions, so for now...I need songs to make you cry.

Are there any that make you all cry? So far I've got Concrete Angel, Leaving on a Jetplane, and Jamaican Farewell (last one's for my own reasons).

Hm, I rarely cry at songs unless something horrible happened. But, here is a list of songs that make me sad,

Graduation - Vitamin C
My Immortal - Evanescence
Hello - Evanescence
Missing - Evanescence
Because Of You - Kelly Clarkson
Where Is Your Heart? - Kelly Clarkson
Simple and Clean (Slow version) - Utada Hikaru
Sing Me To Sleep - Waking Ashland
Never Be The Same Again - Melanie C feat. Left Eye
Over - Lindsay Lohan
Confessions of a Broken Heart - Lindsay Lohan

Hope this helps!

Fast Car & At This Point in My Life both by Tracy Chapman are incredibly moving songs. They don't make me cry, but they do make me uneasy. Maybe they'd help, Holly.

On the flipside, you can always go find a song so terrible or so long that forcing yourself to listen to the whole thing makes you cry. :P

Anyway, I suggest (Untitled 1) by Sigur Ros. No lyrics, it's just a weird cooing over some very funereal music. It's also quite long, so maybe if you don't like it, it might fill up the aforementioned criterion.

The Sixth Station from Spirited Away. It's even better if you watch the movie sequence. If you can listen to this song and not cry, there's something very wrong with you.

Others:

I Do - Ilaria Graziano
No Reply - Steve Conte
Didn't It Rain - Yoko Kanno
Bratja - Fullmetal Alchemist
Duvet - BoA
Hiru no Tsuki - Arai Akino
Aqua - Gabriela Robin
Gessekai - Buck-Tick
B.T. - Yuki Kajiura
With Determined Passion - Yuuko Satou
Lady Eboshi (Eboshi Gozen) - Princess Mononoke
Volume 4 Staff Roll - (It's from a .hack game, forgot what it's called)

And that's all I can think of for now.

There's something very wrong with me. :P

Anyway, since clearly you're willing to sit through country for your art, I have a few suggestions from that genre (which I can't stand anymore...):

Wish You Were Here - Mark Wills
The Dance - Garth Brooks
Dozen Red Roses - Tammy Graham. The first time I heard this song, I knew my father would not live to walk me down the aisle. 5 months later he was diagnosed with cancer, and 2 months after that died. It might be hard to find, although you can PM if you're interested and I might see if I can be of any help in obtaining it.
Holes in the Floor of Heaven - Steve Wariner
Daddy's Hands - Holly Dunn
How Can I Help You to Say Goodbye? - Patty Loveless

Some non-country:

Laisse le vent emporter tout - Mylene Farmer. Her voice is haunting in this, and if you can find a translation...It's so sad. I believe it was remembrance of her brother who had just been killed in a car crash. (Feel free to PM with help obtaining this one)
Rever - Mylene Farmer
Mary Jane - Alanis Morissette
Time after Time - Cyndi Lauper. It makes me incredibly emotional, so it might work.
I Will Remember You & Angel & Adia - Sarah McLachlan. Okay, pretty much anything Sarah McLachlan. Can't listen to her anymore, her music depresses me. ^^;
lullabye - Kajiura Yuki

This was really hard for me to do, since most stuff makes me cry for a specific reason, and I really don't listen to anything but anime music now. And I somehow doubt Raspberry Heaven or Heart's Dice makes anyone else burst into tears. :P

My Immortal by Evanescence, Sleeping Sun by Nightwish (o_O)... just slow songs... and Empty Apartment by Yellowcard, that's me and my crush's song-to-be and once she turns me down I'll be going into tears whenever I hear it, heh.

I already commented on your LJ with some, and since I'm here now, I've thought of more:

Elton John - Don't Let The Sun Go Down
Elton John - Turn The Light Out When You Leave
Blink-182 - I'm Lost Without You
Third Eye Blind - The Background
Third Eye Blind - Motorcycle Drive By
Third Eye Blind - God of Wine
Barenaked Ladies - The Wrong Man Was Convicted
Barenaked Ladies - Break Your Heart
Barenaked Ladies - You Will Be Waiting
Barenaked Ladies - War on Drugs
Barenaked Ladies - What A Good Boy
Barenaked Ladies - Take It Outside
Jimmy Eat World - Kill
Butch Walker - Mixtape
Brand New - Play Crack The Sky
Brand New - The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot
Brand New - Am I Wrong
Brand New - The No Seat Belt Song
Avril Lavigne - Why?

Some of these have to be under certain circumstances, but, you know.

If you plan on listening to Angel by Sarah McLachlan, make sure you check out the version with Josh Groban, haha.

Fingerprints of God - Steven Curtis Chapman
Far from Christmas, but O Holy Night - Josh Groban
Walk by Faith - Jeremy Camp
Speechless - Steven Curtis Chapman
Bring It On - Steven Curtis Chapman

Theres more, I know it, but I can't think.

Friends and Angels Unaware, both by Michael W. Smith. (This Is Your Time as well, but only if you know the story on it)
