Coolest French band ever would have to be Les Breastfeeders.

Highlite song selections would be Mini jupe et watusi, Ostrogoth-a-gogo, and Laisse autant le vent tout emporter.

Or you could just play Lady Marmalade over and over again, as long as you only turn up the volume when they sing "voulez-vous couchez avec moi ce soir?"

Canadian bands are the smexy. Stars, Broken Social Scene, Apostle of Hustle, The Arcade Fire, The Most Serene Republic, Wolf Parade, just to name a few.

As for French-Canadian bands, I can't really help you there. The only French-like songs I have are "Counting Stars on the Ceiling" by Stars and a few songs by Feist.
