Discuss music in any form from rock bands to Britney Spears' latest VMA performance. It's all good!

I listened to He Was My Brother for the first time. Caught my eye because, well... it's Faramir's line and all. And there are SO many hidden LOTR references... WOW.
Furcadia Logfile:
You say, "[[Hooleeeh SHEET! I just found all the LOTR references in "He Was My Brother"! Woah.]]"
Iz, the Ambiguous: [What's with you an LOTR references? x)]
Iz, the Ambiguous: [*and...]
Svayriel: (Oak's mad.)
John Dingo: [she's a LOTR fanatic]
Svayriel: (She's mad.)
You say, "[[Trust me, these ones are SO obvious it HURTS. Faramir uses the line "He was my brother". Boromir is 5 years older than Faramir. He was shot by and 'angry mob'. On his knees. Died for others' freedom.]]"

So Simon and Garfunkel are LOTR fans? :/ Coincidence.

So I'm assuming you've heard Led Zeppelin's The Battle Of Evermore, right? ;P

Nope... but if it has any Eomer quotes, I'll have a new band on my favorites!

Oh dear. If you hadn't made this thread I would have eventually PMed you asking you if you'd heard it.
Granted, I'm no LotR expert, I read the books ages ago and promptly forgot everything that happened, and I've still only seem the first film (and only once all the way through, though other times I've caught a scene or two here and there). But one day I was listening to the song, and I'd never really paid much attention to the lyrics until the line "The ringwraiths ride in black, ride on..." caught my attention.
Horribly long link here to a page in an MSN group that examines the lyrics and explains the references.

Woo, I just listened to it... I am SO suggesting we play that in Orchestra, we've already got Stairway to Heaven ^^

I can relate lol I'm a total LotR fangirl I'll admit.
Whenever there's a reference to LotR in music or other books or anything
I got crazy. xDDD -cough-
Ooh have you heard Leonard Nimoy's (I think that's how it's spelled)
The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins?

Yesh indeed.... Stairway's probably my favourite song this year (Although it baffles me why we can't play Braveheart stuff or The King of the Golden Hall or something else cool...) Heh, in our December concert, the base player did this funky little victory dance after the song because not only did he get a solo, he suggested the song in the first place.

I've already told Eo, but "He was my Brother" was about the '60s Civil Rights Movement. The brother in question was a Freedom Rider. It's made explicit. Sheesh.

Shhh... You're making Faramir sad, he thinks someone made a song from his POV!

Double that, Simon and Garfunkel? LOTR references? I didn't think so
