Miss You or Shattered by the Rolling Stones. Mick Jagger loved that city. He wandered around there for a good long while trying to find all the "Beautiful people"
John Lennon had an entire album called Somewhere In New York City.
Also, I believe Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters by Elton John is something you want to look into.
That's all I can think of right now from a classic rock perspective.

Lest we forget...
Billy Joel - New York State of Mind
Simon & Garfunkel - The Only Living Boy in New York
Interpol - NYC
There are probably more, but I can't think of them right now.

there's a song called "new york city" by the band cub. . . their version of it is fabulous, as is the cover of it by they might be giants. the lyrics are as follows:
You called me last night on the telephone
And I was glad to hear from you 'cause I was all alone
You said, "It's snowing, it's snowing! God, I hate this weather."
Now I walk through blizzards just to get us back together
We met in the springtime at a rock-and-roll show
It was on the Bowery when it was time to go
We kissed on the subway in the middle of the night
I held your hand, you held mine, it was the best night of my life.
'Cause everyone's your friend in New York City
And everything looks beautiful when you're young and pretty
The streets are paved with diamonds and there's just so much to see
But the best thing about New York City is you and me
Statue of Liberty, Staten Island Ferry, Co-op City, Katz's and Tiffany's*
Central Park, Brooklyn Bridge, The Empire State where Dylan lived**
Coney Island and Times Square, Rockefeller Center
Wish I was there
You wrote me a letter just the other day
Said, "Springtime is coming soon so why don't you come to stay."
I packed my stuff, got on the bus, I can't believe it's true
I'm three days from New York City and I'm three days from you
'Cause everyone's my friend in New York City
And everything looks beautiful when you're young and pretty
The streets are paved with diamonds and there's just so much to see
But the best thing about New York City is you and me
'Cause everyone's my friend in New York City
And everything looks beautiful when you're young and pretty
The streets are paved with diamonds and there's just so much to see
But the best thing about New York City is you and me.
((In the original by Cub, * Katz's and Tiffany's is 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' and ** is 'where King Kong lived'))
ETA: oh! and 'new york city boy' by the petshop boys. . . and there's 'autumn in new york' which is done by frank sinatra. . . and the theme to green acres!!

New York State Of Mind by Billy Joel.
I love that song.

Billy Joel has quite a few songs devoted to city life. Even though he may not name NYC in particular, chances are this is the nameless city he sings about since he was born in New York.
New York State of Mind - already mentioned)
The Ballad Of Billy The Kid - has a reference to Long Island near the end
Miami 2017 (Seen The Lights Go Out On Broadway) - Rather apocalyptic lyrics but it's full of NYC references. It really came into the spotlight for a time after 9-11.
The "Oliver and Company" soundtrack also has a few NYC songs including "Once Upon a Time in New York City" sung by Huey Lewis and "Why Should I Worry" sung by Billy Joel.
"The city's got a beat. You gotta hook into it. Once you got the beat, you can do anything!" ~ Dodger ......and that just sums up the whole song.
And the theatrical version of "Annie" has a song called "NYC" (it's not in the movie). It's the scene where Annie and Warbucks share a night on the town.

Aha, Yeah! New York by Yeah Yeah Yeahs is another one.

"New York, New York" ~ Ryan Adams (from the album "Gold")
That song's video was filmed 2 days before 9/11 and was dedicated to those who lost their lives and those who worked to save them.
I think MTV still has the video active in their archives; if not, I'll see if I can find you a link.
