Discuss music in any form from rock bands to Britney Spears' latest VMA performance. It's all good!
Sun Jul 03, 2005 10:07 pm
As of now, my CD list is this: Weird Al's 'Poodle Hat' and 'Running with scissors', Coal Chamber's 'coal chamber', 'chamber music' and 'Dark Days', Flogging Molly's 'Swagger', The White Stripe's 'Get behind me Satan', and a perfect circle's 'eMOTIVE'.
As you can see, I really need more music. Any suggestions on bands?

I assume you like rock, correct?
Perhaps you can check out the following bands:
Evanescence -- Latest song, "Everybody's Fool"
Seether -- Latest song, "Remedy"
Green Day -- Latest song, "Holiday"
Sum 41 -- Latest song, "Some Say"
Good Charlotte -- Latest song, "We Believe"
The Arcade Fire -- Latest song, "Neighbourhood #3 (Power Out)"
Blink 182 -- Latest song, "Always"
Audioslave -- Latest song, "Be Yourself"
U2 -- Latest song, "City of Blinding Lights"
Coldplay -- Latest song, "Speed of Sound"
Jet -- Latest song, "Look What You've Done"
That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Tool - Lateralus
Tool - Aenima
Tool - Salival
Tool - Undertow
A Perfect Circle - Thirteenth Step
Dream Theater - Live Scenes From New York
Dream Theater - Scenes From A Memory
Dream Theater - Images & Words
Dream Theater - Awake
Dream Theater - A Change Of Seasons
These are the only really modern bands that I listen to (other than Red Hot Chili Peppers, but they don't seem to match your taste), and I suggest you get these. These are all albums by the way, if you want me to suggest songs I can.

No, albums are fine! My sister and I are going to go buy some CDs soon, so I need to know what to buy.

I was going to suggest Tool! Wow great minds...
Erm, you might want to try Tenacious D too.

I can see you like your rock music (no idea why someone said Evanescence *titters* )
*Agree's with recommendations for Tool*
My recommendations would be:
The other A Perfect Circle albums : Mer De Noms & Thirteenth Step.
These are far greater than eMotive.
Also the other White Stripes albums are alright.
Try going down different genre's with bands like :
Glassjaw : Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Silence
Glassjaw : Worship And Tribute
Head Automatica : Decadence
Manic Street Preachers : Generation Terrorists
Manic Street Preachers : The Holy Bible
The Clash : London Calling
Iggy Pop : Rude & Nude
One Minute Silence : Available In All Colours
One Minute Silence : Buy Now... Saved Later
Every Rage Against The Machine album
The Distillers : Sing Sing Death House
The Distillers : Coral Fang
The Vandals : Live Fast Diarrhoea
Nine Inch Nails : Downward Spiral
The Cooper Temple Clause : See This Through And Leave
Pitchshifter : Deviant
The Doors : Greatest Hits
The Offspring : Smash
Nirvana : Nevermind (everyone's gotta own this)
The Strokes : Is This It?
System Of A Down : Mezmerize
System Of A Down : Toxicity
Spineshank : The Height Of Callousness

This is all I can think of at the moment.

Because Evanescence is rock.

Definetly go with Iggy Pop.

My favorite Nirvana album is In Utero. The only song that really I actually like on Nevermind is Polly. Even then, I prefer the live version.
Oh yes, Tool is amazing. Carey is a great drummer and I suggest anyone who likes drums to listen to the intro to Ticks & Leeches from the Lateralus album.

Urrrr ok, it's obvious that we have a different definition for the genre "Rock"
You'd probably concider Greenday to be punk, whereas I'd go with the old school meaning for bands like The Jam etc.
But let's not squabble about it.

Oh another recommendation :
At The Drive-In : Relationship of Command

Wow, I'm totally awed by your matureness.

I definitely suggest anything by
A Perfect Circle. Judging by the bands you do like, I think you'd really enjoy them.

Nirvana! *sighs with love* Erm, if you want something heavy, Trivium are way cool. My friend is mates with Matt out of Trivium.
Foo Fighters are wicked too. Queens of the Stone Age and Muse = love. I love Rage Against the Machine too. Spineshank are fab as well. Offpring are spiffy.

I suggest more people to listen to Dream Theater. You should start out with the song A Change Of Seaons especially. Although 23 minutes long (pfft, I've heard longer songs), it's a great song that will introduce you Dream Theater and decide if you like their style.

Propagandhi's How To Clean Everything album is my favorite album by anyone, but it has.. alot of foul language. Also, Closet Monster is another really good band, but again they have lots of foul language. You might like Bad Religion's The Gray Race too. ^_^
EDIT: The Arcade Fire is an amazing band. I'm not sure what their new album is called, but their music is fabulous.
