Yellowcard/Green Day concert?

Wed Aug 17, 2005 7:55 pm

The band Yellowcard are coming to Vancouver at the end of September, and so are Green Day. Now I don't love those bands but I do think they're okay and wouldn't mind going to one of their concerts, but I dunno: SHOULD I? Tickets are expensive, and for Green Day I've only heard their singles from 'American Idiot' and liked them, and for Yellowcard I've only heard their two singles from 'Ocean Avenue' (Ocean Avenue and Only One) and I liked them too, but since I like Yellowcard better if I go I want to actually go with another person, but I don't know anybody who also likes Yellowcard that would be suitable to go with... I could go alone, but that would be odd. What do you all think?

I'd go to neither. It sounds as if you don't have either CD and I would definately not go to a concert where I've only heard two singles by the artist/band because you'll may not like the rest of the songs.

As for Green Day, they'll play their old material as well as the American Idiot material but than again, I'd suggest buying the CD (For Green Day and Yellowcard) as well before you make a decision. You may only end up liking the singles from both band.

I like Green Day and Yellowcard. Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day I like and Ocean Avenue by Yellowcard. I do like some other songs by them, but not many. I like some songs, but I'd not spend money to go to their concerts for a couple songs that I like. I say, don't go.

I downloaded most of their album (still have a couple o' songs to go at the time of writing) and I'm in the process of actually listening to the songs... they're good, like Simple Plan except less whiney. XD

Green Day are definatly worth seeing live they do an amazing show.
I saw them in 2002 and this year and they were brilliant both times :D

I think I like Yellowcard better than Green Day...

And I know two other classmates who like Yellowcard, but we don't usually hang out that often, or more like 'not at all', but two of us are thinking of asking the other guy to see if we could all go together. XD

Yellowcard will be a lot of fun, I'm sure. I nearly went to see them, but I was too skint.

I don't really like Green Day's new music at all, but I've heard their live shows are great.

Yellowcard, on the other hand, is awesome. I've never seen them live (my parents are deadset against concerts *cry*) but I have all their albums and I absolutely love them. The two other big YC fans I know both say they're great live, and from watching the DVD it certainly looks it. God, what I wouldn't give to see Sean do one of his backflips...

*ahem* If you want to buy Yellowcard music, I suggest getting at least the Underdog EP as well as Ocean Avenue. Ocean Avenue is good, but it's sort of... I dunno, tame? A couple of my favourite songs (Avondale and Rocket) are on Underdog, and since it's an EP it wouldn't be too expensive. If you have extra money lying around, you should also buy One for the Kids, which is fabulous, but older. Don't bother with Where We Stand. They won't play anything from it, and it has very little connection with the way they are today.

Yellowcard's new album will be released in October! ^^ I'm so excited that I'm going to hyperventilate just thinking about it.

Anyhow, if you end up going to either event, I'm sure you'll have an awesome time. I'm jealous! :P
