Halftime Shows...

Thu Sep 08, 2005 11:23 pm

I know there's at least a few other people on here with band, I was wondering what other people's schools are doing for the halftime shows during the football games.

We're doing a Bill Chase show
-Open Up Wide
-Handbags and Gladrags
and
-Get It On

In that order, we only have the marching for the first two right now, my favorite marchingwise is Handbags and Gladrags because It's so easy, but music wise (NOT MEMORIZATION) is Get it on, the different instruments make it sound really good and it's lively.

After three seasons of being an alumni bleacher bum, this year I'm actually on marching tech staff so I can say "our" and not mean "back then" now. :P

Our show is selections from The Who's Tommy.

It's rather...unlike us. I can't recal a show involving this type of music. But we'll see how the season goes.

:o That's awesome! My brother was just in a local production of Tommy, and it was the coolest musical I've ever seen!

Anyway, my band is doing a show called Resilience, which is made of music composed by a guy named Karl Jenkins (whom you've probably never heard of and willforget about quite quickly). The three movements are Stretch, Flex, and Bounce, in which the color guard has long, stretchy cloth, bundy tubes which flags come out of, and large balls and trampolines (each for the respective movement). It's cool music, albiet hard, and the visuals are apparantly stunning, and we haven't even gotten to our first competition yet! We're also done learning the whole show, and we're usually still only 2/3 the way through at this point in the season.

And don't get me started on our stand music. We play many songs that you probably would not associate a marching band with. But it sounds cool, and people like us due to it.

not to bring back an old topic or anything....^_^

my school's show this year is The Mask of Zorro. our drum majors, beth and banle, dress up as elaina (however you spell it) and zorro, respectively. XD it's really funny to see. our songs are:

The Mask of Zorro
Diego's Goodbye
Mask of Zorro - Finale.

I looove the Finale musically, there's an awesome really fast round. at our first home game on friday, we played and marched the first two, we haven't memorized the third yet...but usually by this time in the year we only have the first song with drill and the second one memorized, so. w00t.

on friday at the game we were on the other team's side waiting to march onto the field for half time, and we scored a touchdown in the last 30 seconds so we played the fight song from over there, and some assistant coach guy started swearing at us o_O it was kinda scary. then they threw a peppermint at the girl next to me.
