Oh yes, bow down to our supreme awesomeness. :P

I just don't understand the appeal of them, though.
I mean, for all of the exposure they're getting in the world, and for what?!
Producing a bunch of cookie cutter lyrics and chord progressions, and topping that all off with a "hardcore" we don't give a smurf attitude.

If your actually 'bashing' them than here is my reply:

Evanescence has wonderful meanings in each of their songs so saying it's 'cookie clutter' is false. Their songs give out a message and a good one at that. And they don't ever act like 'they don't give a smurf about anything'. By saying that you don't know how much the band cares about their fans and music. Their songs don't display that type of attitude at all either. Name one song that does.

Demonish's description sounded more like Linkin' Park to me.

I do think that people think songs have wonderful meanings or whatever because they think that's what they're supposed to think.

Blargh. Didn't that make a lot of sense :P Lots of the word 'think'. Linkin' Park and Evanescence, to me, are like that rubbish teenage poetry written by people who think they're depressed because a lad was mean to them once, put to archetype chord progressions and wearing 'rawk' clothes.

Well that was a major stereotype.

Well, the music, for me, embodies a stereotype ^_^

Despite the one or two songs they have that I actually think are decent, it usually seems as if they've ripped all that is good from that style of singing/music and threw it out the window.. then made their album.

Well Ms. Igg if you take a look at Evanescence's history, their songs were never inspired or written out of spite of a 'lad being mean to them'. It's what they feel and they say that everyone is feeling bad, depressed, angry etc... and that they shouldn't believe it's only them. It helps people realise people are sharing the same problems and they can talk about it.

I said it was like that kind of poetry...not necessarily the exact same subject matter.
Look, it's all a matter of opinion. In my opinion Evanescence and LP sound like crappy teenage poetry put to music. Amy Lee has a pretty good voice that she doesn't do enough with.
And I still can't discern any decent messages from their music.

Yes, it is true that this is a matter of opinion and I respect yours. I love Evanescence and you don't. Simple. But try looking at the lyrics of each of their songs and maybe the message will be clearer.

I can't think of any benefit I could possibly reap from again looking at the lyrics of each of their songs (I already did to discover the teenage poetry comparison).

Heh, that is where you start to contradict yourself Igg. XD Anyway. Have you ever listened to Limp Biskit? /That/, to me, is teenage poetry about being hurt as a kid. (is also ultimately boring to listen to). Linkin Park isn't like that really. Maybe about three songs on their recent album are verging on your description, but I don't think you've ever really listened to their lyrics.

Don't bash it till you've tried it.

I guess the lyrics are...surealistic?
And, I beg to differ. I think Amy's voice is really good, from low to high(pitch). If you can find another artiste that can sing as well as her, do tell me.

I listened to 'Numb' once more and I focused solely on the lyrics and I didn't find anything rubbish about it. I think they are as taleneted as Evanescence. But I still appreciate Evanescence more.

A LITTLE OFFTOPIC: Got a large Evanescene poster at the London Gathwick Airport!

While they're at it, they should release some of the older material (such as Origin and the demos -- some good stuff on both in my opinion)

A hint of what might be on the next album is a song called Alone (according to a site I occasionally look at, it will appear on the Resident Evil 2 Soundtrack)

Sorry to post on this thread 2-3 months later but I can't make a new Evanescence topic and I need to reply or confirm something. According to the latest news of the Resident Evil 2 Soundtrack, the songs on there are,

Quote:
1. Slipknot - Vermilion
2. The Used - Just A Little
3. The Cure - Us Or Them
4. A Perfect Circle - The Outsider (Resident Renholder Mix)
5. Lacuna Coil - Swamped
6. Killswitch Engage - The End Of Heartache
7. Rammstein - Mein Teil
8. Devildriver - Digging Up The Corpses
9. Cradle Of Filth - Nymphetamine
10. CKY - Escape From Hellview
11. Deftones - The Chauffeur
12. HIM - Join Me In Death
13. Demon Hunter - My Heartstrings Come Undone
14. Thrice - Under A Killing Moon
15. 36 Crazyfists - Bloodwork
16. Cold - End Of The World (acoustic)
17. Rob Zombie - Girl On Fire (Renholder's Apocalypse Mix)
18. Massive Attack - Future Proof

No Evanescence. Pity, really. I wanted to hear the song, 'Alone'.

Ah, there may be no Evanescence, but there is Lacuna Coil on the soundtrack, who I much prefer. <3 I think people who like Evanescence should check out Lacuna Coil.

I should have expected that. Is it embarrassing to admit that's my favourite CKY song? Kinda.
