Pokemon - a couple questions

Fri Dec 03, 2004 9:15 pm

Hi all. :) My girls and I have started watching Pokemon again on WB since the Discovery Kids channel has gone into repeats. I believe it is Pokemon Advanced we are watching now. I have a couple questions, though. Who are these new people, May and that boy? Where did they come from and where is Misty? Why does Brock's voice sound so horrible and gravelly? Was it changed this season or a past season I missed? I think his old voice was *way* better. What is the point of this season? Is it another "Ash has to get all the badges and then compete in the championships" plot or is there something more?

We used to watch a lot of Pokemon, up until . . . I can't remember the name. The season where Ash went around to specifically beat the other gym leaders in a tournament or something. Okay, that sounds like all of them, but there was one season where it was the major plot. lol Since that series, the times it was on changed or something and we haven't really watched Pokemon until now.

One more question. Okay, we used to watch Orange Islands all the time. In that season, Ash came across a Gold GS ball. I saw that episode and the couple after it a lot, but I always missed if they ever said which pokemon was in it. Can anyone *please* tell me which pokemon was inside? It's been nagging at me forever. I would greatly appreciate it. :) Thanks for any help you can give. :)

I think Misty went back her family gym thing for some reason. I watched the epsiode where May came, but I cannot remember what exactly happened there. It just made me angry that Ash dumped all his other pokemon, save pikachu of course, and decided to catch all new ones. He must have like 300 of them back at Professor Oak's place. XD

More like a dozen (minus the tauros herd). He's systematically let everyone of his pokemon go through the last couple of series. It drives me nuts...

May and Brendan are from the first pokemon games in the advance generation.

I'm pretty sure there was no pokemon inside the GS ball, but it did allow the user to catch Celebi.

I think, if I'm right, Misty had to go take care of the gym because her sisters won a free cruise or something.. if I'm wrong, I have no idea which hole in the ground I pulled that out of.

About Brock, I think the only voice change he had was early into the first season when the guy who does Giovanni did his voice.. wait.. or am I confused with James? I know for a fact the Giovanni dude did James for a while, and James and Brock have the same voice actor, so if one was changed why not both? I'm so confused now. Just ignore this bit of my post, besides I think it just sounds funny because you haven't heard it in a while.

I think May is explained well enough, but the little glasses kid is actually named Max. :) He's May's little brother.

The first few episdoes of Advance are out on DVD and VHS, so maybe it's a good idea to get those because I obviously am starting to loose my touch.

ok i'll answer your questions.

who's may and max? may is the girl who lives in petalburg gym also can be playable in pokemon ruby and sapphire. max is may's little brother, but he's in misty's attitude and keeps brock away from girls (same as misty). may and max came from petalburg gym (like i said) in hoenn region. misty became a gym leader and has in control of gyrados and beat shedinja and left her togetic in togepi paradise, mirage kingdom. sometimes brock's voice sounds horrible and gravelly and sometimes when he meets a girl, he always get dragged out by misty or max. the hoenn region season is important to ash cuz he never been to hoenn region just yet. he been to kanto and johto region and compete the pokemon league in kanto region, and silver conference in johto region. yes it's another "Ash has to get all the badges and then compete in the championships" cuz he never seen a gym leaders b4 in hoenn region except for may's dad (norman). and your final question is that no one knows what's in that GS ball. no one at least it's complete shut or sealed inside. no one knows what pokemon is in that GS ball.

Pokemon Kid, wouldn't be easier to simply write it in the US names?

I thought that, but maybe he just did and once he typed it he desided to just leave it and translate the names.. or maybe he feels more comfortable using the Japanese names? Some people are like that. :)

Anyway, good job PK. :)

It's just that I feel better using the original names, because US Pokemon names are sometimes changed completley, some are just translated, for example:

Translated:

Yukiwarashi - Snorunt
Yukiwarashi means Snorunt, but would you say the Rocky Mountains? That's the original way. But if you said it like this "Iwa Mountain" I mean, that is just disrespectful. Plus it's not original, and anyway, the whole world says Rocky Montains.

Completley Chnaged:

Airmed (Air + Armor) is changed to Skarmory, it made perfect sense before!

Pssh, there I go again with my rambling. I seriously am a Pokemon Kid!

Yeah, I had many of the same questions as Jasujo had because I stopped watching when they kicked Brock off and got Tracy. *cringe* I hated him. I missed Brock so much because he's my favorite character.
