Fruits Basket!!!

For those who have the DVDs, were those censored or edited at all? I ask because I'm thinking of buying them, but I don't want to if FUNimation messed around with the content. It doesn't bother me if changes were made in the dub, so long as the subs are translated accurately.

If anyone can clarify that--thank you very much! It'd help me a lot! ^_^

I've noticed some interesting things with the Fruits Basket names. Here are some translations from the Japanese.

Yuki = snow
Haru = spring
Momiji = autumn leaves
Shigure = drizzly rain (didn't get an actual definition from my dictionary, just an example sentence. One of the kanji is "rain" though)

Those are the only ones that I've really noticed so far (well, except that Kyou means "today," but that's not exciting). I found it interesting.

I have the first few volumes in Japanese, although my reading level isn't at the point where I can read them very well. I still have problems figuring out where one word ends and the next begins. That'll get better as I learn more vocab though.

I have yet to see the English version but I do love this anime! I am currently reading the mangas right now.

I don't know if anyone knows this but the voice actress for the English version of Tohru is also the voice actress for the video game character Rayne from the PS2 game BloodRayne. That is making me want to see the English version even more now cause I totally dig BloodRayne.

I think that Laura Bailey fits Tohru nicely. Some of the English voice choices were a bit strange, but in the end majority of the cast works well with the characters they play.

Yeah I agree in a way, but I have a problem with the high voice of Tohrus english voice actor...it's just a bit annoying...

I just finished watching this series on Monday. It's one of my favorites, but the end wasn't as . . . done (for lack of a better term at the moment) as I had hoped. I know the manga continues the story, but I was hoping for a little more conclusion to everything or at least something that was going on. lol It just kind of stops in the middle.

Oh, well. I guess I'm just going to have to read the manga to find out what really happens next. Maybe with any luck, more will be animated in the future?

I just got the 6th manga in the series! Yay. Done reading it already too. Grrr...now I must wait til Feb. for the next one. At least the next one has Hatori on the cover, he's my favorite after all. ^-^ *Glomps Hatori* ~POOF~ O.O OH NO! I need a fishbowl!

Oh, and there's a Momiji bunny plush out now if you guys didn't already know. And a Shigure and Haru one in the making. ^-^

Ah! Did you get the mini boxset? It's so cute. I didn't really want it, because I already own part of the anime series, but it was on sale, the bookstore was out of single books, and the box has Momiji on it. ;P

No, I just bought the book itself. I heard the box was cute, I didn't see one at my book store however. I probably wouldn't have bought it anyway however, since I own all the other books. But Momiji is so cute! *Is a rabbit herself*

It only came with book 6. It has a nice artbox and a disc with episodes one and two of the anime and a bunch of bonus material. The box itself also perfectly houses the first 6 books of the series. ;D

I love Furuba!! It's one of my faves! I only have the first DVD (and a promo DVD), but I have manga vol. 2-5.
Haru-kun's my fave!!
I used to love Kyou until I saw Haru. X3
I still like Kyou-kun, though. I love cats, so that's a big reason why I love him. ^^;
I'm a Yuki/Tohru fan!! ^^

BTW, which manga has the Haunted House thing? (And Haru in the sprinkler X3 ) I read a translation of it and I'm wondering when I can get the manga vol. with it.

Also, for those who have read a lot further than me... Is Yuki really the boy in the cap? In vol. 5 we get a really good hint that he is in my opinion, and I've heard that he is several times, but I'm wondering if there's any definite proof.

Oh yeah, and I've heard the reason the anime's so cut off is that they made it as the manga was being written. (Just like they did with Hellsing -_-;; )

I haven't read that far, but I think its Kyo, and thats why Yuki was...like... I don't know, like he was for a while.
