Yeah, the author shamelessly lifts off of Star Wars, Earthsea and Pern, but it's still damn fine. The dragons and cats' awesomeness make up for the total anonymity of the horses.

Oy, Paolini, a horse is not a motorcycle. And if a horse WERE a motorcycle, Murtagh would be totally OOC. Over-emotional, over-trusting, unquestioningly loyal, and if we knew anything about Murtagh's cooking, that would probably be OOC too.

But like I said, the dragons and cats are awesome. Paolini is a total cat person, and you can tell.

I love all the intrigue, too, and the fact that the Varden creep you the holy hell out - that's new.

It's alright, but you so frequently get this feeling you've read it before.

I bought it from Wal-Mart, because all my books were somewhere between the US and England. It wasn't great, but served its purpose of keeping me amused with no tv, computer, books, music, etc.

I bought it from Book Warehouse. I bought a special edition with an expert from the second book, a foldout map and some extra artwork. I haven't begun reading it though; I'm reading Harry Potter book 5 for the upteenth time. :D

I've got to remember to pick it up again. I stopped early part way through it because, sadly to say, I just grew disgusted with it. Many people praise it though, so I'm hoping it will get better later in.

Too bad the movie's coming out in December, because I'm amassing a collection of songs to whistle at anticipated points in HBP... I wouldn't need to strain to find music for the single most likely event if I knew Brom's theme...

Huh, I've lost my sense of perspective again.

Anyway, Eragon. It'd work well as a movie, except for maybe the Seithr oil bit, which is too bad, because it's really cool in my opinion. (Then again, Last Debate was one of my favorite chapters in RotK. I'm messed-up.)

But the Yazuac scene would work SO well on the movie screen. It'd make it a PG-13 movie at least, but I can see it so perfectly in my head - not unlike the opening scene in Braveheart, in fact.

I hope they tone down the Brom clues a little in the movie. Murtagh they can keep as is - movies tend to dull the wits more than books, but Brom should never have been so obvious. Same goes for Zar'roc, but less so.

And if Saphira looks corny - I'm almost positive she will - that's a huge, huge failing.

Does anybody wonder why Angela is implied to be well-preserved? If she's a Rider, I think we might have hit on Paolini's illegal-Animagus fetish, but maybe it's Solembum. And clearly, Paolini is a cat person.

I think it should be interesting as a movie, I got the book for christmas from one of my old teachers that wanted me to read it to tell her if it was good. :roflol:

eh, i've picked this book up and put it back a number of times...one of these days i may borrow it from the libarary...from what bit I read...don't think I really want to own this one, but would like to read it at some time or another.

I've never got through it, I get bored of it.

I began reading it, and OMG it would make the perfect game! I could even imagine the Prolouge, and Brom doing the Tutorial throughout the game at their respected points...

I just finished the first book and when i flipped the page i was like,"now i have to wait?". Great story, the kind of plot that i really enjoy. I can't wait for the second book to come out!
