I agree with Tharkun, if anyone is not dead its Sirius. He didn't neccisarily die, he just fell through an archway, maybe Harry goes back there and finds a way to stop him.

I am also pretty sure that R.A.B is Sirius's brother Regulus.

Also according to an interveiw from JKR, the last word of the next book will be "scar", which could be anything:

and the only way they could recognise the mangled body, was by his scar

or

and as Harry looked in the mirror he could see his slowly fading scar.

Or around those lines.

I just got a silly thought when reading HBP again.

What if Malfoy didn't have the dark mark, but he was bitten by Fenrir Grayback? It would explain his droopy lids, and why he was always looking pale and tired. People would be scared of it if it was obviously a werewolf bite, so instead of showing people his dark mark and scaring them, maybe it was his bite. It would explain why he disappeared from the map for long times (Yeah, the room of requirement, but...)
Aaand...
'I didn't,' breathed Malfoy. He was not looking at Greyback; he did not seem to want to even glance at him. 'I didn't know he was going to come-'
Sure, he wouldn't want a werewolf around his friends, but he knew his friends wouldn't be around. So.... Maybe he didn't want him around because he was scared of him because he bit him.

So, that doesn't really make sense at all now that I've typed it out, but I can't really see Malfoy having the dark mark.

But would Burke be shocked and scared to see a werewolf bite?

Yes, maybe he thought Malfoy would be like Grayback and attack him if he did something against him.... Or... Something.

JKR did mention offhandedly that Malfoy was a Death Eater in the Mugglenet/TLC interview, so he would have a Dark Mark, but that doesn't rule out Malfoy being a werewolf too.

For some reason, I have utterly convinced myself that Harry will die before he finishes with Voldemort and be forced to come back as a ghost. Which is, like, the saddest ending short of Voldemort winning. I have no hard evidence, though, just things like the fact that we'll learn just how you become a ghost in the seventh book and Harry looking ghostly at the beginning of "Will and Won't". So there's a good chance it won't happen, and good riddance. But tell that to my emotional side.

Helen McCrory (the actress for Bellatrix) got pregnant, and was replaced by Helena Bonham-Carter, who looks even less like me than Helen McCrory did, and I hear made an absolutely smurf' Morgan Le Fay. The downside is that she also played the Corpse Bride. That darkening oh-you-are-going-to-PAY expression was cool, dangit.

They also seem to be filming in Italy for some reason, despite Scotland being more appropriate both geographically and mood-wise.

Thanks to a painstaking matchstick replica of Movie!Hogwarts, I now know that I was justified in ignoring the Hungarian Horntail and craning my neck at the architecture going, "Wait, that can't be right." Not only is the tallest tower closed and pointy, it is the Headmaster's tower.. So they're going to have to redo their whole design for the sixth movie. *clucks tongue*

I did tell you that Snape almost certainly heard the entire prophecy, right? And that it still clears nothing up about his motives? You have to admit, the guy's good.

Blah, they make it sound like only two characters will be killed, but it's two she didn't intend on killing when she wrote the final chapter in 1990.

So that's at least two main characters dead in the final chapter alone, and she calls it - what? - a "minor adjustment"? Something of the sort.

People who were complaining that HBP didn't have a real war going on, now's your chance to celebrate. Myself, I lost a lot of sleep last night.

Nobody seems to be talking about the possible encyclopedia and short, unrelated fairy tale she mentioned, I notice. Man, that encyclopedia should be so incredibly cool. But yeah, when you have cryptic pronouncements about character death, everything else kind of goes to the sidelines.

EDIT: It seems that when I post on the Harry Potter thread, everyone flees in terror.

Well, with each book, I've been waiting for Ron or Hermione to die (I don't want them to). Wonder if one of them is on the chopping block.
One thing that's always bothered me about all the books: why do they use quills instead of regular pens? I know it's tradition, it's the magic world, etc etc but pens are so much easier than using quill & ink, not to mention less messy and time consuming. If she explained that the ink has important magical properties or something, I could understand. I would think some of the kids would be sneaking pens in since they're easier and faster to use.
Ah, I know I nitpick, but it's bothered me from the first book. :)

Could R.A.B. be....

Amy Benson?

It has the A and the B. Maybe Amy wasn't her first name, but her middle and what she liked to be called by?
She was one of the ones that went into the cave with the young Tom Riddle, and she was 'never the same again' or something of the sort. She'd know about the cave...

Oooh, that's a good theory. While I like the idea of Regulus being R.A.B., it seems far too obvious.

Maybe R.A.B. isn't even a real name- it could be a nickname or something. Or not even a name- an acronym for an organization, place or spell. Could be anything.

But I really like the idea of it being Amy Benson- that's JKR's style, to drop a name once and then reveal more in another book. Like the Lovegoods- they were mentioned in GoF, I believe, then Luna was introduced in OotP.

can't find the sig from this set, so instead, you get a <3 .

I check Mugglenet once a day or so, so I took the WOMBATS Saturday. Probably didn't do well. Oh well, I have other things to make me happy. Like old episodes of MuggleCast!

I think it's because pens are manufactured by Muggles. There seems to be an unwritten rule that the Muggles live in their world and magical beings in another world. Outside of school, I think witches and wizards probably have enchanted quills(either quills they enchanted themselves, or ones they bought pre-enspelled) if they don't want to deal with the flaws of regular quills. Like the quick-quotes quill Rita uses in Goblet of Fire--I bet that one didn't need to be dipped in ink periodically, or anything else.
