"MapleStory uses the 3D graphic engine. You won't be able to enjoy the game if your graphic card does not support 3D graphic engine. Check to see that your graphic card supports the 3D, and then please check to see if you have installed the latest driver available for your card."

I decided to try just one more time.
Could someone please tell me how to check the graphic card?
I have installed the lastest driver though, I think.

My computer is about five years old. Is it just plain impossible to play?

At five years I would go with impossible. It's probably not worth checking as you'll need to upgrade to play anything new.

Impossible?! My computer's more than 5 years old and I could run Maple Story fine! Now Elder Scrolls Oblivion (which is state of the art brand new) nooooo chance whatsoever...

Now assuming you use Windows XP I'll describe how to check your graphic's card...

Go into Control Panel -> System then change the tab to Hardware -> Device Manager and it should be under Display Adapters...

I *think* that's right. I vaguely remember checking it earlier this year for Oblivion.

My graphics card is built into my computer *rolls eyes* which, like i said, is probably a little more than 5 years old.

If Maple Story isn't working just fiddle with settings and such until it does (like I said, when I played it, which was admittedly around the beginning of the year, it worked fine)

Or go to Start -> Run -> type in 'Dxdiag' -> click on the Display tab and you should get a whole wealth of information about your Graphics card. Assuming you have DirectX I guess...

Thanks!
Er....
I'm real bad with computers so....
um..... How do you check if it supports 3D?
It's a NeoMagic MagicGraph256AV driver

--> Direct3D functionality not available. You should verify that the driver is a final version from the hardware manufacturer.

5 years is nothing, I was able to play MS on a 10 year old laptop.

Umm i'm wondering what error did you get when you tried to play Maple story...

Unfortunetly you probably won't be able to get Direct3D acceleration working, even if the drivers are the most recent, and if I remember correctly NeoMagic has stopped with Graphics cards some time ago making it unlikely any real recent drivers will have been made. However there was an interesting website that deals with the lack of Direct3D with a Neomagic 256av and one poster claims to have got it working, I can't verify it and I wouldn't attempt to do what he has in anycase.

Sorry.

Thank you everyone :)

The message, once I get past the 'not connected' one(which is because I live in Japan), would be "Cannot find proper screen mode for G2D" or something or the other.

Gr2d?
Then that would be the same error I got on one of my laptops, and I have the same exact graphic card too.

I tried just about everything to fix it, but unfortunately like Captain Insano said, the company stopped making driver updates.

I myself gave up after 2 months and got a new computer... You could look up gr2d on google and see if that helps you, or just get a new graphic card.
