Ok, there seem to be some technologically oriented people here, so maybe someone can help me.
Like the topic says, I'm having trouble with my speakers, or rather just one speaker. It used to make a sort of soft buzz every time a webpage loaded. Then it made a louder buzz. Then it started buzzing loudly at random times. Then it buzzed loudly non-stoped. So I disconnected the speaker, and left it unplugged for about 3 weeks because I figured it was shot. I intended to replace it, but I just never got around to it.
So a few days ago I was seriously fed up with having just one speaker so I plugged the "bad" one back in just to see what would happen and it's gone back to only making the very faint buzzing when a webpage loads. I've done experiments with interferance and I know that my cell phone makes it buzz loudly but nothing else does, and even when I know my cell phone is off and in the other room, it still buzzes very faintly when a webpage loads.
Do I just have a funky speaker? Anyone know what the buzz got louder and louder, but disapeared after not using the speaker for a while? I'm keeping the speaker for now since the faint buzz doesn't bother me, but I'm rather curious to know if anyone has an explanation for my weird speaker.
For those who want to know what kind of speaker it is, it's the speakers that came with my computer when I got it a few years ago (a Dell), and it says Altec Lansing on the front of it. The bad speaker connects to the good one, and then a single cable connects the good speaker to the computer.
