Major XP problem

Sun Feb 19, 2006 12:55 pm

Tonight I was on my computer, and the automatic updates installed. Once they finished, they asked me to restart, so I did. Now windows will not start at all, it goes to the windows loading screen and reboots, and this happens continuously. I tried repairing the installing on C:, and it didn't help at all. Any other suggestion or theory on what might be the problem?

If I try the safe mode it starts to load and then says "2347bus.sys is loading. Hit enter to cancel.", whatever I did, it reboots yet again. thanks in advance.

Do you have a boot disk or any cd that you can use to start up?

The computer does come with a boot disk, if you were smart, you should have kept it lol. A little tip:

NEVER i mean NEVER download the stupid updates! They do nothing for you! lol

The only boot disk is my WinXP... I have no trouble accessing the other OS (the one I'm currently using to type this post) but I have the problem when trying to access that particular WinXP

Depends on how familiar and comfortable you are with the command line and editing system files. If you don't want to, take it in to a professional.

If you are ok with it, put in your boot disk, get to a command line,
Code:
cd C:\windows

Then you should
Code:
edit system.ini

and
Code:
edit win.ini

And see if 2347bus.sys appears in either of the files. If it does, comment it out/delete it and try to restart.

Of course, I'm not guarenteeing that any of these will work, because I haven't had this exact problem before.

Is the 2347bus.sys really the problem? Because when I tried to access this working windows I'm currently using in safe mode, the same message appeared but everything worked fine.
