Decent Hosts

Fri Jul 16, 2004 4:45 am

I am in the process of making a website. I have a domain name. Right now I just need a good reliable host. {Not a free one.} I was plannig no using Elixant, but I don't like PayPal at all and I don't have the option of using money orders or checks at the moment.
Does anyone know of any other good, reliable hosts?
{Sorry if this isn't the right place to post or if there is another thread about this. I skimmed over most of them and didn't see anything relating to my question.

Apparently hostaffect.com is a good one but I've heard some bad reports as well. Not sure whether they use paypal or what. I'm on synergyblue.com though. I'd suggest asking at daydreamgraphics.com message board for what the people there use (it's a webdesign community so most people there have paid web hosting as well).

Ah, I know what daydreamgraphics is. ;P I'll have to do that. Thank you.

Thank you. I decided to try them out. They had a very fast response time. They are also a bit cheaper than Elixant. They do offer a bit less space, though. Not that I need that much. ;P

If you're still looking for a web host, I recommend InfluxHost. They are very reliable, and the basic plan is a great deal. They're also very friendly. :)

This is kind of old, but my favorite one is http://www.bluecapacity.com . They have MySQL, Cpanel, PHP, and all that other stuff everyone demands.

http://www.hostforweb.com (main parameter is always bandwidth, not disk space) -- 50GB transfer / 750MB storage (Linux Apache PHP MySQL, CPanel), 10$ (9.95$) per month. (If you deside to sign up, could you please put How Did You Find Out About Us? as Referral Program (Specify Username =>) and Other in that section as digifort)

If anyone else still needs one, I would highly reccomend http://www.iamyourhost.com. It took longer than expected to activate, but I am extremely pleased with it and it's not expensive ($5/year). In terms of a domain name I'll also give a good review to the one I use, http://www.namecheap.com.
