I have no idea how, but my comp has suddenly lost all red colour.
Which wouldn't be too bad, but I'm a graphic artist, y'know?

And something went further wrong - although I'd saved my picture of Ranarron (Oakleaf's mortal enemy) multiple times BEFORE the computer got screwed up, it's nowhere on the comp and there's no record, not even a broken recent document on Paint or something.

Something really wierd's going on, and stuff's not working properly.
Did I mention it's a flatscreen? ARGH!

One thing though - when I go and try to adjust the colour, it does show red on that specific menu, but nothing else. Any adjusting of the red level doesn't do jack.

Anyone know what's wrong? and why the carp did it kill my Ranarron picture? Making... no... sense...

Oh yeah, how'd it happen? I don't know. Me and Thar were just laughing about something, and then I think one of us bumped the comp pretty hard. Yeaaah.

I'm not an expert, and I barely know what I'm talking about, but I DO know that everyone's screen is made up of blue, green, and red. And that specific pins on the monitor plug are for the three colours. So chances are your red pin is broken. Or something like that.

I'm in the right ballpark, I just don't know how to pitch!

That's what happened to mine and had to send my monitor away to be repaired, thankfully it was still under warrenty.

To make sure it's your monitor if you have access to another monitor hook it up to your computer, if the monitor works fine then that's what your problem is, if it still doesn't show red then it's your video card.

I'm no expert either but it sounds like it's the monitor rather than the video card since you said adjusting the red doesn't do anything and that's usually controlled by buttons on the monitor itself. But like BeDeviled said, if you can test it with another monitor, you'd have a better idea of what you're working with.

And the deleted picture is absolutely nowhere on your computer? It just vanished without a trace? Bizarre, indeed, but I don't think a faulty monitor would do that. Kind of sounds like two seperate problems, but you should check your other files to make sure they're ok because if something's eating your work, you'll want to deal with it asap.

What program was your picture on? I think some versions of Photoshop have problems with saving.

Oh yeah, this will be going to C&T shortly...

Check your cables. Disconnect the computer to monitor one, and your monitor should show some kind of "primary colours" picture -- along with the message "No Signal". If you don't see red (but can see green and blue) on that picture, your monitor is at fault. If you can see red on that picture, reconnect your cable, making sure you've attached it correctly.

If that results in you still not having red, you'll need to check your video card.
