Here's a simple explanation of colors.

There is 16 colors, 256 colors, Hi-Color 16bit, and True-Color 32bit. Going from left to right, there are more colors. 256 Colors looks like garbage, but is used when it has to. Every video card right now is able to display 256 colors.

Er, I tried that, then tries to play, and the whole screen goes black for a couple of seconds and then goes back to normal. >.>;; I also restarted my computer to see if it would change, but it didn't.

(Also, I believe that option is just so you wouldn't have to keep reverting display settings if you prefer another one, not for adding that particular color setting, so unless I actually have 256 colors, I'm guessing that method won't work. :cry:

It would be even more likely for an older card to have 256 color since it was used more often the farther you go back. You sure it isn't something wrong with the game, try running something in 256 color with another game and see if it works.

A computer dating back to 1995 can use 256 colors. 16bit is about 65536 colors, and 32bit is 16 million colors.

Ok, it seems everytime I go to visit a guestbook, I get redirected to sites I'd rather not see...I really don't think its my computer. Being that I have Spywareblaster; ad-aware, spybot etc. I took a HiJackThis scan, but am just not knowledgable enough to be a 100% sure of what everything is, so please, if you know please tell me if theres something incriminating on this log:

Well, your log looks clean, and by the look of it, there isn't a proxy that could be doing it. It may be the website itself.

Hey guys, can I get some help please?

I recently bought a new computer and everything seems to be doing fine. Except for one thing: my internet keeps on uploading something. On my old computer I was using the same modem and internet connection as I am currently using on my new computer and there was no problem. But on this new computer my internet keeps on uploading and it really affecting my download speed. I suspect that it is program that came with my computer that may be trying to upload information or something. Anyways, I saved a Hijack This log in hopes that it can somehow help you guys to find the problem.

Thanks Tailseh! I installed a trial firewall that came with my computer yesterday and so far it is working wonders. The uploads have ceased, and I've got three months to get myself a full antivirus. I dont want to use the trial ones too much. Anyways thanks for the help. While I'm waiting to get an antivirus im gonna do some reading up on worms to try and find a bit more about them.

Another smaller problem though. My cookies and temporary internet files seem to be deleting everyday, that is, whenever I get on the internet I'm always logged out of neopets, ppt and other places. Is there a way to prolong the cookies and tmp files so that i can stay logged into neopets and other site?

Okay, I kinda have a big problem with my computer. I recently got "The Sims 2" and installed it on my computer. I played it for an hour, then quit the game to go eat dinner. When I came back, it would not start up. I tried all sorts of things, like disabling the firewall and antivirus, restarting the computer, etc. I also uninstalled it and installed it again, but to no avail.

I can't remember the actual error message. but it said that a file was corrupted, then a blue screen of death appeared saying something along the lines of "Windows has shut down your computer to prevent further damage", and when I rebooted it, the disk cleaner program came up. I let it run, and it truncated a file that I'm pretty sure was the corrupted one.

I was thinking that maybe the game itself on the CD is messed up, as I meet all the system requirements, it's always that same file that's corrupted, and I was able to play it once. Any help?

For Optimus: I wouldn't know how that happens. What browser you using?

For Dragonfire: Ehh.. That message is bad. It may have corrupted a windows/misc (like directx or something) file. Other games work, right?
