Okay here is my deal. I used to have a webcam in college, one day it stopped working. Since then I couldn't get it to work again. I thought my USB port was fried but it seems it's not because today I plugged in a DigiCam and it worked, as soon as it was connected I got that "system has detected new hardware" thing. It doesn't do that with my webcam even after I unistalled the software. It doesn't do that when I stick a Memory stick in either. Doesn't seem to pick up anything but that digi cam now.

I had a problem completely unistalling the webcam software so I'm thinking maybe the drivers are still there and it's not recognizing it?..I haven't a clue, because if it was that way, it should work properly when I try to use the program it came with...yahoo even tells me there is no cam on my computer.

I've uninstalled the USB ports, (I only really have one USB port but the comp shows two different things) I've updated the drivers for the USB port...and nada. When I go into the hardware manager, it shows that my port is working correctly.

I can't figure out what's going on...right now I'm going to install a different camera and see if it works. I'm thinking I need to do something with the cam drivers but I don't know how to reinstall the camera drivers. Please help if you can.

(Edit: I just put in a USB/HUB and it picked it up, but then gave me a message about it not being able to install properly because there was nothing specified for it, something about like what it was going to be for...but it never let me choose o_O. I plugged the cam into one of the ports in the HUB and it still wouldn't pick it up...)

Well you uninstalled the usb ports, try removing the drivers for the devices you've used in the past like the digicam and memory stick...do this thru that device manager thing.

You can try searching for new drivers as well..just google the name of each device and type in driver update or something after it. For example, google 'sony digicam driver update' or whatever. You can also go to the manufacturers website ex. sony, canon,hp,etc and go to their support/drivers section.

Hope that helped =o

How can restricted user play Neopets?

Wed Dec 01, 2004 7:23 pm

I have Win 2000, Norton Personal Firewall 2003, AntiVirus 2003. How do I configure my Restricted User so they can play Neopets?

Also an itsy-bitsy second question. How do I disable programs on start-up? I'd like to start them manually when I need them.

Well, the first thing to do is to right-click each of the items that automatically pops into your taskbar when you start Windows, and see if "run in taskbar" or "taskbar icon" is a removable feature. Also look for "Run on startup," and disable that.

Then you rightclick Start, click "open," double-click "programs," then double-click "Startup." Simply delete any programs from that list that you don't want to start when windows boots.

If that doesn't help, come back, and we'll go more in-depth.

How do you wipe a partition of a hard drive? I thought I would be able to leave 176GB of my 186GB drive as unallocated, so I could decide where I would like to put it later, but now it only reads as 18GB unallocated with my OS installed.

I'm not really worried about the level of destruction of the data, as I will be reinstalling Windows shortly after anyways.

Any help is -greatly- appreciated :)

It kindof depends. Do you use Windows? Linux? Specific type of OS would help.

Ok. Here's my problem. Every once in a while, (for example, now) a few of my browsers (MYIE2 and IE6.) stop displaying pictures. Now I know for a fact this:

1. I'm running Windows 98 (Not second edition)
2. It's not my firewall, nor my anti-virus, nor my popup/content filters, as I disabled all of them and tried again.
3. The pictures DO work on Neopets.
4. The pictures DON'T work on the PPT forums, nor on deviantART (nor on a few others as well)
5. The pictures DO work when I use FireFox.
6. My browsers ARE set to display pictures.
7. Closing and opening my browsers again doesn't work.

To clarify what I mean by 'my pictures don't work', I get the *evil* red x's.

Also, sometimes the pictures do display. It's sudden; one moment they work, the next they don't.

Any suggestions?

Wipe your disk cache for both browsers.

Also go to start->Programs -> accessories -> system tools -> disk cleanup, and run that.

I downloaded three Evanescence videos on my computer and after watching them, I want to delete them. The problem is, I don't know where they are. I remember it saying they are located in the 'TEMP' folder but when I go there, nothing is shown. It's empty. Any thoughts?
