Okay here is my deal. I used to have a webcam in college, one day it stopped working. Since then I couldn't get it to work again. I thought my USB port was fried but it seems it's not because today I plugged in a DigiCam and it worked, as soon as it was connected I got that "system has detected new hardware" thing. It doesn't do that with my webcam even after I unistalled the software. It doesn't do that when I stick a Memory stick in either. Doesn't seem to pick up anything but that digi cam now.
I had a problem completely unistalling the webcam software so I'm thinking maybe the drivers are still there and it's not recognizing it?..I haven't a clue, because if it was that way, it should work properly when I try to use the program it came with...yahoo even tells me there is no cam on my computer.
I've uninstalled the USB ports, (I only really have one USB port but the comp shows two different things) I've updated the drivers for the USB port...and nada. When I go into the hardware manager, it shows that my port is working correctly.
I can't figure out what's going on...right now I'm going to install a different camera and see if it works. I'm thinking I need to do something with the cam drivers but I don't know how to reinstall the camera drivers. Please help if you can.
(Edit: I just put in a USB/HUB and it picked it up, but then gave me a message about it not being able to install properly because there was nothing specified for it, something about like what it was going to be for...but it never let me choose

. I plugged the cam into one of the ports in the HUB and it still wouldn't pick it up...)
