recently when i've had a couple of windows explorer windows open (or a couple of times just one open) it's frozen and i've had to 'close the non responding program'. does anyone have any suggestions why this is happening?

It could be spyware taking up memory, or if this keeps on happening, or your computer keeps freezing up, go to Control Panel, then click System, then this window will pop up and then you click the Performance tab, then you click on Graphics and finally, turn it down by one or two.

Well, it might be diffrent if you are using XP though...

I"m sure you meant Internet Explorer =o but anyway, make sure your ad-aware definitions are up to date before scanning. You should also scan with multiple progs, another popular one is SpyBot you can get it from http://www.download.com

Always remember to look for updates before scanning!

Explorer does crash. It could be a DLL was overwritten by a program or something.

Have you installed any programs recently? and when you end explorer, can you click details or something like that, and post what it says?

ohhh windows explorer..I see what you mean now.. well it could be a virus I suppose..get an anti virus prog... I don't know much about XP but maybe you can do one of those system restore things? and if all else fails you might have to just reformat your comp =/
