I have XP once again and I've seen all these different styles you can download etc for this OS. I'd like to know if anyone has done this here who can recommend good programs and sites for this. I've been looking around for comments about StyleXP and some are negative (things about it having spyware) and others positive, and then I've also heard about starskin. I'd like to customize my desktop but I don't want to risk messing up my computer which I just reformated.

Get WindowBlinds. It's free. It has a pay-to-use version, but that only adds advanced stuff that you PROBABLY don't need.

http://www.stardock.com/products/windowblinds/

That's the theme program I use. It's really great! And if you're looking for themes, I know two good sites:

http://www.wincustomize.com
http://www.skinplant.com

There's many other sites with these themes, but I mostly use WinCustomize when I'm looking for a new one. At the moment, I'm using a theme called Avenger. It's really nice looking...

Set by myself. Yes, it has pixel errors. Yes, I am a newbie at Photoshop.

It reminds me of Macintosh. I think Desktop X is pretty cool looking, but that's just me. :)

I went ahead and installed StyleXP, so far so good. I'm quite enjoying it..though I saw the themes at themexp.org and they have OS themes that look like Macs...there is also some with the bar at the bottom, is there a program that does that for Windows or are these people really in Macs making themes for Windows XP? o_O

Oh! For Windows Blinds, try Jarilo!

My problem with WindowsBlinds was that it installed so much extra software that it drove me insane. Every time I wanted to add something new, I would have to install another program. StyleXP is definitely superior, in my opinion.

It's under TGTSoft, not StyleXP.

Also you could try WinStep, It has nice themes but downside is hogs lots of memory.
