So. My brother did something to the computer that blocked any site without a rating on Internet Explorer. The only site I've been able to get to is the front page of msn.com.

To work my mp3 player, I need to get on Internet Explorer. It doesn't work with Firefox.

I'm an admin on my computer, but it says that I need a supervisor password. None of my family has ever SET a supervisor password. Is there anyway to change the supervisor password or change the rating that Internet Explorer can look at?

Edit: Dealt with that. But I have another question...Whenever I try to play music, it says that the audio hardware can't be found. Where is my audio hardware?

Try this:

Tools-> Internet Options -> Content (tab) -> Settings -> General (tab) -> Check "Users can see sites that have no rating"

I actually ended up reformatting my computer, I was so sick of the stupid thing - there wasn't anything important on it, heh.

But now I have another question. Whenever I try to play music, it says that the audio hardware can't be found. Where is my audio hardware? D:

Erm, try going into the add new hardware wizard and letting it search for hardware. It should detect it and install the appropriate driver.

Sock, one way (the way I do it - Miss Non-techie here) is to right click on the My Computer icon, then click Properties, then Hardware. Look at your hardware profiles and there should be a troubleshoot and other buttons to help you out.

Thank you! I went through the audio hardware, though, and it claimed it was all working fine...

Hmm....are you using Windows Media Player to play the music, or something else?

Yeah, but I don't hear any sound whatsoever.

Hmm...well, if it's WMP that's giving you the error, try going to File->Tools->Options->Devices (tab) and making sure that your speakers/sound card is there.

Other than that, I'm stumped. Maybe your speakers are dead. I dunno.

Probably there aren't any drivers to your soundcard bundled with Windows, so you need to install them yourself. Check the Device Manager for yellow question marks, one of them probably is your soundcard. Check any CDs etc. you got with the computer for drivers.
