Admins, here is a MOD out there called the Youtube mod. It allows you to embed Youtube vids into a post. I think that this would be a good idea. We could have a "Youtube board" just for sharing funny videos. It could be like Coconut Isle, where your posts don't increment.

My first reaction to having such a mod is a major clutter issue with it.

My only problem about that is the worst case scenario where someone embeds one of the problem movies from there without us knowing until the last minute. At least with a link to the site it would be one more step in preventing the content from showing up on our site (and allows us to clean up faster.)

I actually REALLY like the idea. It's especially helpful since we now have game guides on youtube, as well as a youtube thread. Besides, the videos wouldn't be any harder to remove than a link, would they?

Then my computer would try to actually load the videos, and my internet speed would slow to a three-legged spider's crawl. It doesn't like videos, but it also doesn't like me when I try to close out of a page with a video that it's trying to load.
And a YouTube Board would get such videos out of my hair, but it doesn't really seem necessary at this point. That's what the Jokes board is for.

There's a thread in Misc Discussion for this. I don't see why we need the ability to imbed anything on the forums. Seems like hassle to me. And quite unnecessary.

And we don't make boards for just anything. A singular board for youtube to me would definately be over kill.

I think the problem with that is there is sooo many YouTube vids it would get old after awhile - "look at this video!!!" like a million times over :/.

Your computer doesn't actually load the video until you click on the little play button.

really really really really no. it is a terrible idea for people that have their internet limited. Australia is annoying in that it measures how much you download - and youtube videos add to this deceptively quickly! it's also part of the reason why i really dont like webpages with embedded music as the browser downloads them automaticaly without you realising, using up your download quota.

please do not install anything like this!

Again, like theonlysaneone said, they don't load unless you click on them. Or if your computer is kittens like Moongewls' one is apparently.

With youtube videos that may be the case, although sometimes they do just randomly play - it annoys me enough when people do it on their LJs etc.

In the case of embedded music it definately loads.

I suppose if you wanted to share a video you could post a link.
