Have the stars always moved?

Thu Mar 17, 2005 11:28 am

I was looking at the stars each member has above their name and they jiggled about. I've never seen this happen before. Actually, come to think of it, all the smilies are moving too. That's never happened before, I'm pretty certain.I'm confused XD

Yep, they always have :)

Yes, the stars do move on the SubSilver and SubRed options which I one of the reasons I choose to use SubBlack (they don't move on this one, yay!). Has your computer been having any issues with GIF files previously and animation as an explanation as to why you weren't seeing movement and you are now?

Oh, I see. Well now that you mention it, the things people claimed moved didn't move for me. I was on Internet Explorer before but have Mozilla Firefox now. Think that could be it?

I use IE and don't have any problems with animations. Perhaps if your settings in IE were a little different though it might have some sort of impact. I might have suggested that you might have been missing a plug-in (eg, Macromedia) but considering they're GIF images as opposed to a more intensive file I doubt you'd be missing those plug-ins.... Hmmm.

Or it could be because:

1) Their movements were too subtle for you to notice
2) They only move at certain intervals, with fairly long pause in between, so you didn't catch them moving.

But it's most likely a technical problem though. :P

Indeed. That is always a possibility :D

Don't a lot of the emoticons (eg, :roflol: ) move almost continuously? So that would take out option 2 because apparently the emoticons weren't moving along with the stars?

In IE there's an option (under Multimedia in the Advanced tab of Internet Options) to turn off animations in IE. The images will load, but only the first frame of the animation loads, and it stays as a static image.
Most probably she had this enabled without realizing it.

Also, clicking 'Stop' at the top of the page anytime will freeze all of the animations on the page.

Not on Sublack. Nice normal stars there.

Are you implying that the ones on the other templates are abnormal? =O

Thu Mar 17, 2005 7:21 pm

Indeed. I like my stars stationary. I mean, what are people to think if your stars are dancing around?

Yep, They've always moved like this. *dances along with star*

Well, if you star was... say, Deborah Kerr, for example, you would quite expect them to dance, and maybe sing as well. But if it was... Tommy Lee Jones, it would be quite strange to have them dance.

(Sorry, I just couldn't resist. :P Deborah Kerr was Anna in the King and I for those who are wondering. =D And I have no clue whether Tommy Lee Jones dances or not, so if he does, lets lie and say he doesn't. :P)
