PPT on Wikipedia

Thu Jan 12, 2006 11:04 pm

This may have been mentioned before, but I thought I may as well just in case -

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PinkPT

Pretty nifty, he? I even edited it myself because of a little spelling error.

I thought that was considered a vanity page and was deleted?

Looks like it, 'cause it's gone now. I don't really see why it should be a 'vanity page,' though - I'd think PPT is large enough to merit an entry.

No; it was there before and it even talked about the old PPT entry being deleted. I wonder why they deleted it again.

It's because members of PPT made it, and effectively it's assumed that we'd glorify ourselves, I suppose. Esspecially since we make it known that we're community driven

It's kind of like making your own Wikipedia page.

Meh, looks like it was deleted again. I guess we just too cool for school.

I was the creator of the article, and I can say that there is absolutely no glorification of PinkPT; I deleted all opinions.

The reason it was deleted is because it's not notable. In order to get it notable we have to be referenced by a notable external source which is unaffiliated with PinkPT. If anyone could get this done or knows of it having been done, perhaps they could post here and we'll be able to put the site back up and get back at the hypocritical admins :P

My definition of what "notable" is to have it covered by the local press or media on TV, or to have shown a significant influence on the internet. As much as I'd like to see the PinkPT article up there in Wikipedia, but there's just too many fansites to be included. If it was me I'd either vote a weak weak keep or a weak delete. Sorry about what happened though, guys.

It's definitely a delete: PinkPT is nowhere near notable enough which what the biggest problem is. This is basically a campaign to get PinkPT somehow referenced on an external medium.

After looking at the article entitled "Wikipedia", this is foolishness.

If glorification isn't allowed, they need to delete that page, as well.

It's a fair enough policy. :)

Hmmm, maybe we should hi-jack CNN :)

xD Maybe we should, but then CNN would tell the government, thus leading to chaos in New York because of the elevated threat level.

Only old people watch CNN. Go after MSNBC. That is the good cable news network. All you have to do to get on Countdown is have a really stupid/crazy video.

Not true Sky. I watch CNN, and I'm only in my early 20s. I think CNN is hilarious, especially Jack Cafferty. They put some pretty entertaining things on the scroll sometimes. I can definitely see them putting something about Neopets in the headline ticker.
