Of the ppt news system

Im just wondering what system/s PPT used, prior to cutenews, because i really liked it, and on my own site, ive been through the usage of cutenews, integration via phpBB, and i didnt really favor either of them, so id love to know, what was it that PPT used prior to cutenews for the news system?
