How do the avatar and trophy catalogs work?

Ive probably spent about a collective 45 minutes trying to figure out how to use the two, particularly the avatar one. Can somebody enlighten me?

lol well you click on avatar list, and it gives you a list of all the avatars.

I've signed up and it says I'm signed in, but when I click on "my avatars" it comes up with nothing...
is there a step I'm missing?

You need to check off the ones you have before they'll come up on your avatar list. Click on Avatar List, select the ones you've got, and click submit. Then you'll be able to view the avatars you have under 'My Avatars'.

I don't know if this is a bug in me, or in the catalog, or what, but when i click on "Avatars i don't have" ir comes up with a blank screen.

Now, as much as I'd like to pretend that i have all of the avatars...
