The speed upgrade for me is quite noticeable at times. At other times, the forums hang and lag just as badly as before

If it was going up and down again, the PHP was being upgraded. Should be all fixed now.

I don't notice any real difference in speed (this computer is extremely slow with all sites so it's nothing necessarily ppt related) but I also haven't been getting any error messages.

eh not really, there are times when it loads at lightning speeds, but I just updated everything on my mac and cleared out about 10GB worth of crap, so I guess I can't make a fair judgement....it still lags a little for me though...
