With the increasing number of SQL errors visiting the pages, such as "SQL server went away", "table marked as crashed", etc. I tweaked a few settings a few minutes ago.
Ideally, things will start running faster and smoother with less hiccups. But, perhaps not.
Feel free to post under this topic to let me know what you are seeing.
ETA: After just an hour or so after making a few tweaks to the setup, the CPU load of MySQL is phenomenally lower.

I haven't had any SQL issues since you tweaked this, and the site seems to be loading faster. Thanks, Blue!

Thanks! The CPU load for mysql has continued to be substantially lower since the tweaks. Now to fix a new issue (unrelated to the forums)

Have been seeing increasing amounts of "SQL Server has gone away" Errors. Tweaked the max packet settings... We shall see if that helps.
ETA:
With the continued frequent "SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ] MySQL server has gone away [2006]" errors, I reverted back to April 2024 settings and then tweaked different things... Let's see how this goes.
ETA:
Seeing a lot more "table crashed" errors lately. Until I can figure out the cause, I added a system task to run my "fix it" script each hour to fix the top troublesome tables....

Thanks for keeping us up and running, Blue! This seems like a lot of tediousness to figure out. Hopefully it stops giving you trouble soon.

My pleasure. Really.
It seems to be time to upgrade the server, operating system, etc. This will also mean a new version of PHP (on which most of the served sites work, including this here forum). I have hesitated, because the wonderful look and feel of PinkPT Forums might need to change since this specific theme is not so much supported on the newest version of the forum software. I did see someone had hacked/ported this specific theme to work... we shall see. I know I have done a ton of custom tweaks to the forum, some long enough ago that I have forgotten what they are. Meh. We shall persevere!
