what is the point/diffrence?

Thu Aug 05, 2004 7:56 pm

HTML and BBCode are pretty much the same. HTML is <i></i> and BBCode is Their is not much diffrence, so why bother haveing both of them. BBcode is normaly seen on forums, wereas HTML is normaly used for webby sites. But why not just use HTML or BBCode? They are almost the same, and it can just confuse people sometimes.

And when you are on a forum and not sure which to use(the tag buttns might not be working, has happened ebfore) you just normaly end up looking like and idiot, if you don't know because of any reason. So why havethem both, instead of just one? The are almost identical.

HTML is enabled for the forum- at least it says so. It's going a bit tempermental though, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It's not confusing either, cause there are some things BBCode can't do but HTML can, like resizing images. They're not identical. BBCode is just a bit easier to use if you're not familiar with HTML, it's more basic.

If ever you want to disable one of them, there's always the checkboxes on the bottom of the "post reply" page.

I guess there are things you can do with html code that you can't do with BBC, as BBC is just a simplification for such menial tasks as changing font size etc, atleast for people that doesn't know html. Hehe, I couldn't change font size with html, because <font> is not a part of the XHTML standard, and that + CSS is the only thing I know :P

Oh, wandering of here :P I think you can use tables with the html code, but not with BBC, but I don't know :P

Test:
<table>
<tr>
<td>hello!</td>
</tr>
</table>

One's a little more powerful - the HTML.

I'm an HTML dork, so I use html coding when I really have to do something out of the ordinary. Usually I'll use the bbcoding, though, cuz I don't often do anything rebellious on a chat board.

Some html tags are allowed, and some are not. This is for security reasons. BB code is safer, but not as widely known. We use both so people can choose. It makes life easier. Unless, it seems, you are easily confused :roll:

People like different codings,
I think BBcode is much easier for the forums, thats why I like to disable my html in the post, since there is options at the bottom of every message your about to send out, I guess they are both on because some people think its easier to do different codings..
