Some things that need to be cleared up...

Before I start I want to mention a couple things.... my username on IRC is SyNiX and I don't play neopets much but my username is vixen_chick666 (account is owned by someone else). I was appointed as co-owner of Pinkpt's old irc/java chat by the owner of the chat TuRBoSoNiC. He started a chatroom nearly 3 years ago which by the way was the Official PPT Chatroom and it was delinked because the network that the chatroom was hosted on went down permanently. The second time it was delinked was because of a complaint which I still feel shouldn't have resulted in the 2nd delink because there were a lot of misunderstandings that occured.

and it was that Shoyru_Lover said he never talked to Exodus which he really has because that is TuRBoSoNiC's alias.

Now it was brought to my attention through a friend who frequently vists these forums that someone wanted to make a new chatroom for Pinkpt.

Since I can't reply there, I'll reply here.

Although the gesture is welcome, I'm afraid I'm locking this. So far I feel with your agruments that there is little at least I can trust in you and your staff without even adding the previous attempts at an "official" IRC channel. I'm afraid that it isn't possible.

I don't mean to sound rude but obviously there was an official irc channel as I stated earlier in this post. It was linked for over a year and is still alive even to this day.

The forum is where peopel chat, not everyone can access irc, some people have problems running it on their computers, or with their parents allowing the IRC client to be downloaded.

The chatroom is a place where people can chat too, not everyone can access the forums either (you need to register to post messages), some people might have problems running it but then again some people might not. You don't need an irc client to connect to the chatroom, a java client will suffice. The negative content which can be posted on forums is just as risky as content being posted in the chatroom or on the neopets neoboards. With one advantage, people can't post innapropiate pictures or anything in chatrooms (unless they're in ascii code which can be prevented) and of course innapropiate posts can be deleted but the reaction time to handling a case like that in a chatroom is far quicker than on forums.

I'm not trying to slander you as a person, but you have to try to understand where i'm coming from. I don't want to see PPT get into trouble over something like this.

The risk is equal in my opinion and I've spent as much time on forums as I have in a chatroom. Of course I'm not making you open a chatroom, I just wanted to clear all the misunderstandings or at least bring them to attention before any decisions are made.

Also we have a bad word filter that will replace the obvious bad words (F-Bomb, S-bomb, etc) with <censored>. Pictures can not be sent, it's text only.

I haven't chatted to TurboSonic/Edodus within the past 6 months. Anyone claiming to me has been lying.

In regards to the IRC chats, I may re-open a PPT one in the future, BUT not before I completely investigate how IRC works and possible ways to modering it so it's a reflection of the values we at PPT hold dear.

PPT IRC chat was closed in the past was because:

1) I had no idea how it was working.
2) I had no idea in regards to the rules of the chat.

The chat will not re-open until I take a look at possible options. Until then, I thank those who offer their services. Rest assured, it's appreciated.

The forum here works because I know the staff personally. Staff are carefully selected and are chosen on the basis of their respectibility, maturity and fairhandedness. I trust the staff and entrust to them the running of these forums for the the enjoyment of everyone.

The chat, on the other hand, I had no idea who was running. Of all the OPS, I knew no one intimately. I've received complaints of rude behaviour by the OPs. I can't ethically run a chat and charge people with running it unless I know that they will do a good job of it - regardless of how much they post "trust me". Common sense tells me no one would trust a person on the street who walks up and asks you to give him/her the task of running a 'business' (analogy).

As stated above, the chat WILL NOT open untill I can properly research into how IRC works and the staffing options available. If you have any suggestions, they are most welcome via PM.
