Er... Suggestion [PPT DOCTORS sticky]

Tue Nov 16, 2004 2:29 pm

I think we need a PPT Doctor sticky thread in Misc Disc.
I would really use it. (as you can see with all my PPT DOCTORS COME HERE threads)
And I think it would be a help to everyone.

I'm not so sure.... I don't see that many threads regarding asking about medical help. Besides we don't want to over do stickies for every suggestion like that.

If you kept it all in one topic, that topic would stay near the top if people found it interesting, thus eliminating the need for a sticky. So, you can consolidate it into one topic (or do your best to) and it should stay at the top if the populace bids it to. :)

Kids, broadcast your intimate health issues across the internet? Mmm. It also leaves open a lot of room for exploitation and professionally written lies that could get some younger/gullible people seriously hurt.

My personal suggestion would be for you, Adam, instead of making a thread everytime something is wrong, why don't you ask parents? From what I've seen every time you make one it's about 40 posts of telling you to go to a doctor... :/

To be honest, the medical questions on here astound me. If there are medical questions, they should be asked to a doctor... not a forum. General practitioners are there to give out medical advice, not us. Although some of the advice given by members may be true, when dealing with sickness or anyone’s health, professional help is the way to go. If unsure, ask you’re parents or guardians.

Bingo. Here really isn't be the place to be persuing medical advice at all. Nobody here is quite qualified, and I'd want to avoid any problems that unlicensed medical opinions given on the forums might bring up.

I ask my mom and she says, "I don't know, ask your friends on the net".

I recomend trying a verifiable web site if you have a question about that. WebMD.com is a good one because it puts complex medical information in lay man's terms. Honestly, as much as you may trust us, you don't know where we are getting our information and as a person who is studying in the medical field, I have heard a lot of bad medical advice in the past.

But remember that even though you may have symptoms of one thing, only a doctor can really tell you what's wrong. There are so many things that can go wrong using ppt as a medical source, or even the net in general.
