Well, when I first came to PPT.. I thought it was this HUGE community, and it wasn't even half the size it is now, and I was overwhelmed. Can't imagine how you feel. But I just started posting and you tend to develop prefernces, favorite boards and such, and you get to know people and then 2 monthes down the road you relize that you've become part of the community without even realising. All these people right here, probably a good place to start since they took the time to reply to your topic.
p.s. Feel free to add me to your AIM buddy list.

To know people better, you just have to put yourself out.

I've been here since Sept. '03, so I think I know a couple people by now.

Just join in games, convos in Misc., polls is a good place to know people, too. You can make some good friends in Divas. Have some patience. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Some tips:
~Just join yourself into conversations. Wish someone a happy birthday, play forum games such as Werewolf in NNV, participate in RPs.
~A lot of PPTers are very friendly. When I first joined, I felt a bit shy, but I soon found that PPT is a very friendly community. DM and I are now friends, because a few days ago I helped bump her topic on the neoboards, we talked about a bunch of random stuff, and found out that we had a lot in common.
~If you see a PPter on the neoboards, just say 'Hi'. And don't forget to mention you're a PPTer.
~Also, greet newbies, so they feel comfortable. At first, they're probably feeling like you are, and a welcome will boost their self-esteem. They could become really good friends with you.
~Don't be scared to post. It's great here, and you'll be missing out on a lot of fun if you don't post.
Meep, those are my tips to you.

Thank you everyone, for all of your wonderful advice and stuff

I use AIM quite a lot so I will talk to those who have AIM - just not tonight. It's late here...actually, it's
early. That give you any clues as to just how late I've stayed up?

*wakes up, rubs head and gets into nice warm cosy bed*

Heh, well I know all of the old members since I frequented ppt quite a bit and met some very nice people, many of whom I fault in the neopets battledome which I like a lot so I found something I could relate to other people in. So that is what you have to do, but ever since the old database crashed and the 6.5k posts went down the drain the idb forums which a lot of my friends went have been kind of my focus, but they are the same old friends.

It took me a good.. -counts-.. four months, give or take a few, before I had any good friends. Just get yourself involved, it's not as hard as it seems. People won't be open to you if you're not open to them.

AIM gave me more friends on PPT than I would ever imagine, some I'm very close to today. I see you have it, so use it.
I remember once someone (can't remember who) told me that everyday they'd PM someone randomly just to say something nice, like she liked their set, or that she liked something they said recently. I bet that's a really good way to make friends as well.
If you want to ever contact me on AIM, just send me a PM (I'm on privacy) and I'll let you know my username, and we can talk and I can hopefully introduce you to some people.
