Well, yesterday, I wanted to visit the PPT forums, but when I visited the front page, all these pop ups appeared and something downloaded REALLY fast (It was so fast, I barely saw the progress bar on the popup) and my virus scan caught a trojan. So, I went and scanned my computer, and found one other Trojan, and tons of unwanted and/or dangerous programs that suddenly came up, and hadn't been there before I went to PPT. This has happened once before as well, except it was only with spyware, no viruses.

I won't say I have never received a pop up with PPT, as it has happened in the past. That was a quite a while ago though. Though as far as receiving a virus goes, I have not. Have you considered that perhaps if you did pick up a trojan it could have come for several other applications you might have been runing at the same time you visited the site?

Perhaps there was something else, some other website with pop ups that caused this. I have yet to receive a pop up from the PPT frontpage or PPT forums. I use both IE and Mozzila, Mozzila which comes with a pop up blocker and IE which doesn't. With neither of those web browsers have I received pop ups or anything else o_O, specially not since the new adverts have started.

What I advice is to try and do what you can to guard yourself, trojans are everywhere, in e-mails, programs, anywhere. Make sure you update your virus protection programs and run your spyware mgmt programs to detect anything you might have picked up. As this is the only incident I've seen in regards to this I asume it's probably something else causing the problem.

Hello,

Over the past 24 hours, I've had emails about this. PPT's current host had removed the alleged programs that were 'infesting' the pop ups on PPT and they appeared to be gone for a while. They've apparantly made a reappearence and I contacted the host yesterday who made a call to the advertisers.

This will be fixed ASAP.

Hold onto your seats people... the SL is back.

Huh, the same thing happened to me, TWICE! These kind of things are unexceptable! Now I ahve one computer in the shop repairing the damage the spyware and adware did to my system files, and I have another sitting there because a virus from these pop-ups.I know it is not PPT's fault, I just think it is sooooo wrong on how people do this stuff for money!

Rather, get Firefox. :P The Google toolbar doesn't help that much.

Firefox or Netscape will keep all the pop-ups away. I havn't visited the main site for a while, I know it has pop-ups because of the blocking icon at the bottom of the browser bar. So its possible, but Yukio said its going to be fix so just stay away from the page I guess for the time being.

He said they'll be fixed ASAP on June 30 (look at his post). I think it's been fixed already.

I believe that trojan is spyware. Perhaps you may want a browser that blocks pop-ups such as Mozilla or Opera. It does help stop the pop ups and if you have dial up, it should run more smoother since you have no traffic to go through.

Anyway, This is my first post in this kind of forum. Looks like a friendly community here. :)
