In the WG&C and Roleplaying boards, boards with no replies for a week are locked. Why is this? May sound like a stupid question, but I see no reason why they should be locked.

It's not a week, generally it's one and a half to two. It's because of the fact that there's no pruning. We like to keep the boards clean, and to prevent anyone from bumping an old topic. :D (You might also notice how the Sigs Board, Art Tech, Gallery, Neohelp, and Neopolls don't have many locked topics or no posts and topics beyond a certain date.

I was wondering the same thing. I had an RP closed after only one week of no posting (basically, I was waiting for someone I had PMed to respond, but they hadn't been on PPT). I am PMing the RP mods as I post this, but I thought I should mention it.

As I'm the only moderator with access to both boards at time of your first post, Dawn, I feel like it has something to do with me.

Role play threads are locked after a week because it minimises the amount of people saying, "Why isn't anyone posting?", "Don't let this die!!!" and "*tries to save role play*" kind of posts. Some of them are useful, but the majority end up to be sort of spammy in attempts to save role plays by bumping them back up. People usually lose interest in a role play if not posted in for a week, and they're considered to be dead role plays.

Word Games and Contests rules state that contests that are finished are locked after a week as well.
