Yes, the first day of challenges was quite different than I expected. Three people showed up at the beginning, but we eventually ended up with 6. I had to tweak the challenge a bit (originally it was supposed to be three seperate teams solving one challenge each) but it worked out fine. Because I had to tweak it, I was also unable to have it be a timed challenge as originally planned.
The first challenge was a math problem. I am unable to post it here, because it has exponents and PPT does not currently have a [sup] ability. However, within about a minute of posting the link to it, cap had it solved. It was actually a trick question, just basic math, with complicated-looking variables thrown in. The group earned 5k from that challenge.
The second challenge was much harder. The group was shown a small portion of a picture, taken from one item on neopets, and told to find it. After about 20 minutes I gave them the opportunity to pass and come back to it, which they eventually took.
The third challenge was a coded phrase. It was a simple sentence, replaced with corrosponding numbers. This one took quite a while, and I was very impressed with the deductive reasoning shown by all members present. After figuring out that the same letter was repeated 3 times, they came to the (correct) conclusion that that number represented the letter E. After talking through the challenge, the answer was eventually found by Kugetsu.
Then it was back to the second challenge. This took a VERY long time, and I was also impressed by their dedication, especially since most of them had been on for over an hour. I did give a couple of clues (I wasn't a very good host in that respect, considering I don't want them to win money.
) but it was mainly time spent on neoitems that won this challenge. After searching through countless pages of usukis, foods, and books, 1lewysgal finally found the correct answer.
Because all three challenges were completed (at 5k per challenge) the pot was doubled to 30k total. However, there were several members not present. 6 showed up, and four were excused for various reasons. I am therefore afraid I will have to dock 1k per person who did not show up. I don't want to do this, but many of the challenges require specific numbers of people, and without those numbers the challenges cannot be played as planned. That is only 5k, though, so the pot currently stands at
25k.
Tomorrow there will be a quiz with 10 questions about the Mole. Once I post them, simply PM me with your answer to all 10 questions. The person who gets the most answers wrong about the Mole will be executed. I will also have the time for the next live challenge, so all of the players can check their schedules and PM me with any problems.
The next challenge will not take place until after the first execution, so it will be 3-5 days.
