Yes, acting mature by kissing each other, having relationships which most likely do not mean anything them. This classifies as immature, not mature.

So what?

They're still trying to act mature.

How would you know? Do you have the basis of a 10 year old mind?

No, but I do, they ARE trying to act like Avril Lavinge and stuff. That new movie Going th Distance has pornography in it and my "friends" say they want to see it because that'll make them "More Mature". Geez.

So?

They are trying to act mature.

I'm not saying that's totally correct and proper, so it might be totally gross and sick.

They're still trying to act mature.

Give them a break sheesh.

My opinion on 'young' (not sure what age you're not considered young at) people declaring their 'love' for another: They're in love with the concept of being in love. They have a crush on some attractive guy/girl, and suddely, OMG TRU LUV LOL!

>_>

(Knows someone who made out with boys in the third grade, and who thought she was in love with one of them. Even though she was in third grade.)

ETA: Hadn't read full thread before posting, so I shall have to edit this to say:

Calm down, don't start a flamewar or Alex smash topic with lock.

It all depends on whether you consider what you describe as "love", young or even puppy. I don't think that's love, and that's why I can laugh at it and think it's cute. :P (I'm 15 too!)

I don't think there's a set age for saying when a person can experience love, because it wouldn't make sense if I said, for example, 15 was an age one could start. One night you'd be 14 and shouldn't be dating, but the next day you're 15 and you are suddenly free to a whole new world! I really think it depends on individuals' maturity.

I don't see any problem with people dating when they feel they're mature enough. Of course, you always get idiots who slurp all over them, and say they love them, then dump them, but that's life. It's not as if people go any further than kissing, is it?

Heh, well, I'm 15 and I've never had a boyfriend before, let alone dated. XD

I do agree, 10 is rather a young age to have crushes or anything of the sort, let alone TRUE LOVE. You are right about true love, true love is mature love.

It depends what you consider to be young. I'm going into grade 7, and most of the girls in my grade are obsessed with flirting. It's really sad. They get together with a guy, then dump him after three days. If course, I'm not really into that sort of thing, it's mostly only the "popular" crowd. But it gets on my nerves, especially when guys that hate me pretend to flirt with me.

Get ready, here comes a big post:

Even "Teen Love" is dumb, it's STILL not "True Love". It's no different than "Young Love". And yes, JellyofLight, it CAN be more than kissing. They talk about.....No. I won't say. It's against the rules. And, I know them better than all of you guys. Don't try to correct me. Or "Sheesh" me. I can really get acted up when that happens. :x Heads will roll.

Anyways, I've made a chart of age. Here it is:

Ages 1-5: The innocent child. Never even thought about dating.
Age 6: First year of school. Learning about those skipping games.
Age 7: Second year of school. Picking up dirty words.
Age 8: Third year of school. Often kids can get pretty nasty about here. Butt-slapping, talking about private parts, talking about making out and actually making out.
Age 9: The nasty era has finished. Now everybody has girlfriends/boyfriends. They have conflicts every single recess, but then make up next recess. It is very annoying. You lose alot of friends to love. On Valentine's Day, everyone says your a loser and a low-life for not having a relationship. It's a pretty hard year. But, you can make it out, slowly and painfully. It sucks.
Age 10: The last part of Grade 4, the beginning of Grade 5. The time where everyone confesses to their friends that they hate eachother. Then for the rest of the Summer, they miss them so. It's pretty funny to see your friends cry on the phone and stuff. All over a stupid thing called love.

**Not at Age Yet. But Still Knows About Older Ages.**

Age 10 (Half-point of Grade 5): You start to bring stupid expressions of words to school. Like: Wack, wick, mondo-cool. Everyone starts to walk backwars and talk about dating and crap. They rarley play Foot Hockey, only when there's a girl around.

Age 11: Starting Middle School. I have a 13 year old friend and he says it's he**. (Man! Why can't I use the full word! I feel dumb.) I've never really investigated this furthurly though. I really don't know about Middle School.

Age 12: Rebellion starts. Dating with no chaperones start.

Age 13: Finally a teenager. You feel like you can swear. You feel like you can have a girlfriend/boyfriend with "True Love".

Age 14: So happy. You think you have a strong relationship with your girl/boyfriend. You only had a sevreral 1000 break-ups. But you still think it's a strong true relationship. Pity...

Age 15: Now this is rebellion. You don't listen to your parents and you start to swear very nastily. You forgot everything you did as a child. You start to think you are growing up. Guess what? You're not, you're as young as you'll ever be. You're only old when you have a child or get married. (Yes, that's you Natsmom! J/K.)

Age 16: You surprisingly remember your childhood and you feel dumb. Well guess what, you're still dumb. You think that that wasn't true love. You're right, it wasn't. But you think what you're doing now IS true love. It isn't, either.

Age 17: ^ Read up.

Age 18: Privilages, gone! You're an adult. You do whatever you want. SOmetimes, idiot 18 year-olds move out and live on their own. I don't know why. 18 year-olds are dumb. All of them who beg their parents for stuff when your young. You shouldn't get smurf. Your going to move out when you hit 18. Right? Move in with your girlfriend. Not everyone, just stupid peple. I know a few people on PPT who did. I find them stupid, too.

Age 19: ^ Read up.

Age 20: Some people turn out to be: Beer-Drinking-Girl-Switching-Cheating-Sweaty-Drunk-Cigarette-Smoking-Dumbas*es.
Rarley though.

Age 21-24: The unknown stage.

Age 25: Some people get married and have kids. You're considered old if you get married. Or have kids. You old people with children. Sheesh.

Age 26-75: You feel you waisted your life. You should've not have waisted time getting married.

Age 75-DEATH: You dead. If you got married, you waisted your life.

There.

Today's youth is horrible.

And for someone who complains about stupidity, you should be calling yourself dumb, too. You spelt 'privileges' wrong :P.

Honestly, some teenagers can feel 'love.' Some teenagers actually feel those butterflies in their stomachs and the happiness of seeing or even talking to the person.

Spunkie, that was an inside joke. Didn't you get it? Plus, I'm only 10, even if I DID spell it wrong, I would've been excused...

EDIT: And plus, I said SOME, not ALL.

How can you put a timeline on life? Especially since you haven't experienced any of this as you haven't been to Middle School yet. You can't know about these ages as experience counts for everything. I'd rather you not call anybody who are making life choices stupid, these type of comments are likely to offend, especially as you are implying that certain members here are "stupid". One day you'll grow up and have to make these choices too, sorry for being patronising but your post bugged me.

Also, my nan and granddad fell in love aged 15 and 16. They're now in their 70's and don't feel like they've wasted their lives getting married as they have 2 sons and 4 grandchildren who they are extremely proud of. Young love can be real. I believe that two are my best friends are truly in love, they've both admitted that they don't expect to last forever, as University is looming in two years but they're happy to spend the time they've got left at school together. Whatever happens will happen and my friend has said that if they last beyond Uni, they know that it was meant to be.

"Young love" to me means playground love. True love comes with maturity and experience.

EDIT: Please don't bypass the filters with *'s. We can all tell what you're saying and I personally find the bad language offensive.

I agree...it IS possible, though maybe rarer, to have true love at a younger age. "Marrying" isn't another word for "wasting your life", unless you marry a crazed murderer or something. I myself think, until proven otherwise, that my crush-for-over-a-year is simply a crush, but I am going to stand up for all those people who think otherwise about their own crushes/true love.

Also, on the second point, if you don't cover up ALL the letters with symbols, you'll get striked (assuming the mods follow that rule, and I have confidence in my knowledge that they do so.) Not to backseat mod or anything, but I just thought you should know.

Hmm...lots of things to say, but I'm not sure where to start.

I suppose I'll just give my opinion on the subject first.

I've always hated it when people at young ages thought they were in 'love.' They're more in lust than anything, rather than love.

When I was in fifth grade, there were a few new girls that had come into my grade and they started "dating" every boy in the class. After they started doing it, everyone seemed to be going out with one another. However, most of them never went on dates, and instead just used the title. It drove me insane, especially since that became the only thing anyone ever talked about anymore, and I had no interest in it. One guy was even claiming to people he dated one girl in kindergarten. That made me laugh though.

After reading Xerai's posts, I think the main reason kids "date" is because it is their perception of maturity. It may not be yours, or even mine, but kids that say they're going out with someone because they think it's a sign of growing up. As said before, I did not do it nor support it, but I do see the reasoning behind it.
---
Now, on a slightly different topic...

I also read your post about a persons life. Honestly, it frightens me a little bit. I don't see how you can have such a pessimistic outlook on life at such a young age. Are you sure everyone who has ever married believes their life has become a waste?

At 10, I kind of thought the same way. Lonliness is the only way to happiness, love is for morons, etc. However, secondary schools open you up to a whole new group of people, and can easily change your perspective on the ideas. And if you think the whole dating thing is bad at 10, just wait until middle school.

What I guess I'm trying to say is that I don't recommend trying to analyze life at age 10. There is a lot ahead of you, and it will be far more unexpected than you think.

Wow...long post. :P
