I'm not planning on getting one myself for several reasons (I'm too fickle, and I have no pain tolerance, among others) but I don't have any problems with them. Just not my cup of tea.

(By the way...tattoos are frowned on in Christianity? I know that they're looked down on by more conservative Jews, but I didn't know that applied to Christians at well. *shrugs*)

I'm fairly neutral. I've considered it a couple times, but I just don't have the pain tolerance, and never will.

My dad has one on his arm...it's this really strange grim reaper type thing. When I was little, I named it "Bubba". XD

I have a tattoo. I have a blue number 13 on my right hip. It's pretty small, slightly bigger than a square inch. I got it when I was 17. It didn't hurt much. In fact, it tickled more than anything else. At one point, the tattoo guy had to stop and tell me to be still because I was laughing. My response was to ask him to make it hurt more. Afterwards, the area was sore, but it wasn't bad.
I want to get more tattoos. But any tattoo I get will be something that's very special to me, something I won't regret in 20 years. Even when I'm old, I won't regret my tattoos (plural, because I'm sure I'll get more). Each one will hold a story, each one will hold memories.
I might get a picture uploaded later, but right now I'm too lazy.

Agreed. Some people today have, like... ten. That, I think, it just... well, I don't want to offend anybody, so I'll just say I don't agree with that. But one or two is fine with me. :)

I won't get one, though.

I would like to have two small wings on my back, though I haven't exactly planned to get that done, just thought about it.

Overall I think tattoos are really nice if you keep them small and in _reasonable places_.

I know you can't be buried in a jewish cemetery if you have a tattoo, but someone can have it removed after you die...
And it doesn't really stop people here in Israel from getting tattoos...

I am pretty sure that it does not apply to Christians. I was raised Christian, and no one I knew from the church communities had a tattoo, but then again, the churches I went to were incredibly proper, and well... full of rich snobs. If not actual rich snobs, rich snob wannabees. So, I'm not sure, but I do not think tattoos are frowned upon in Christianity.

I don't want one personally. But I think they are ok if they aren't over done.

Has anyone ever seen pictures of the old Japanese tattoos that covered nearly their whole body? Those are truely works of art.

But for me, I'm happy with putting on a temporary tattoo every now and then. I get ones that look like real tattoos and put them in normal tattoo places (ie a small butterfly on the ankle) and then go freak my mom out because she thinks I got one. Honestly, if there are any college freshman reading this, you might want to consider doing this kinda thing when you go home for winter break. It really is funny to see your parent's reaction and then tell them that it isn't even real (or at least it was for me).

I did that once...
My dad just looked at me square and said "you're outta the will"

Heh. My brothers first tattoo... he hid it from my dad for a year.
At my grandparents fiftieth wedding anniversary, my brother was in shorts, the WHOLE family and my grandparents friends were there. My brother was in shorts... my dad turned the corner. My brother turned around.
And my dads eyes bugged right outta his head.
It was great.
They never did talk about it. But now my brother (admittedly) has two other very ugly tattoos (both motercycle related). I don't like them, they're the biker-ish tattoos. And then... a neat celtic cross.

If I ever get a tattoo. It'll be this.

I designed it. *loves the design* probably won't ever do it. But it'd be nice. I'd make it small, and put it right on my ankle (or my foot). Thats all I want.

(seriously it'd be two inches long at most.)

i want a tattoo and my parents are fine with it, but they think i should wait until im old enough. ie what is cool now will bore me next year. my dad got a tattoo, but that was last year- hes far enough into life to make a good decision about that.
tattoos are cool, and i know a lot of people who get them to really mean something. my friend, for example, has two- one that matches her best friend's, and one that matches her husband's.
its also another way of expression- its art.

I used to be part of a very orthodox christian church, and no one there had anything against tattoos. In fact, one of the most stringest christian ladies there had several piercings and tattoos.

As far as my parents are concerned.... my mum knows about it, and gave me permission to get it. It's been over a year and a half, and my dad still doesn't know about it. At the time, he wasn't told because we knew he wouldn't approve. And now I see no point in telling him. Once, several months after I got it, I was lying on the floor playing with my dog, and my shirt had came up enough for part of my tattoo to be visible. My dad saw it and said "what's that?" I lied and told him I had drawn it on with a marker.

I'm...kinda neutral on tattoos and piercings. Sure, they can look really nice, but I personally wouldn't purposely keep a design on myself or put holes in my body...and I can't stand the thought of any possible pain it might induce. XP

I believe it's against my religion or something, and my parents probably wouldn't let me get one, but I wouldn't want one anyway. 'Cause...dude, they last forever. @_@ I wouldn't mind a temporary one though. XD

Tattoos are pretty cool. I don't have a problem with them. My friend Dennis has one on his arm and it's awesome. I've thought about getting one myself...I just want to be sure as to what I want and wear I want it first. Heh.
