I have an urgent need to access Microsoft Word, but something is wrong with it on my computer. Whenever I attempt to paste an image into it, the image pastes, but you can only see the very bottom of it. And also when I try to paste an image, for some reason an internet browser comes up. I've tried rebooting, I've tried making new documents, but it just doesn't work. And yes, Microsoft Word is the only program I can use for this. Help... please?

Go to http://www.openoffice.org and download the open office suite. They have a word processing program much like word that you should be able to use to do whatever it is you needed to do in word. You can also save the resulting document in word or any number of other formats and open office will open all of your old word docs as well. Hope that helps.

OpenOffice is a pretty good office program to use, as it is open source.

Also make sure you don't confuse operating systems with "computer systems" as they are not the same.

You're copy and paste'ing the image from an internet site, right? Try using Save Image As... from your browser, saving the image as a local file, and then using Insert -> Picture -> From File... select the image you saved on your computer to insert it into your document.
This could be happening because word pastes the link to the image (and will have to download it to view it), and not the image data itself. It's a rather nasty thing relating to copy and pasting from HTML documents. Try the above and see if it helps.

That's running away from a problem, not solving it.

Didn't work. :(

Thanks for trying to help, though.

Oooh, this may be a dumb question, but: Is there such thing as a log on your computer that keeps track of everywhere you go and such? If there is, how would you get to it on a Windows XP OS?

Well, I use ME, but my friend had XP and I'm pretty sure she had this- in your browser window, there should be a button that looks like a sundial or says the word 'history'. Click, and there you are. :)

Thanks, that was a great help for most of my problem. Do you (or anyone else) know about how to access your history other than the internet too? Like if I looked at certain files or anything?

There's one thing that does that:

Spyware.

Quick question, my computer has 107MB/4.02GB left. What exactly is the ratio or chance that my computer will suddenly break down?

Click on the Start Menu. You should see something that says "My Recent Documents". Click on that, and you'll see the last 15 files that you've opened.

And say you want to open a file in Word. When you click on "Open".

Anyway, see that button that says "My Recent Documents" at the top left? Click on that, and this will take a while to load, but all the files and folders that you've recently saved to will be listed. And if you click on the "Date Modified" button, the most recent files will be at the top.

I have a question myself. Is there a program or something that can act as a timer and turn my computer off at a certain time? If not, I could always use the computer's system settings, and tell it to turn off after a certain period, I guess.

There are a number of commerical computer programs that do that (Shutdown Now comes to mind)
If you don't need anything fancy, you can use the windows shutdown program to shut off your computer after a set interval (after you type the command). Open up a command prompt, and type shutdown to see all the options availible.

Can anyone tell me why my computer is magic enough to do the following:

Play far cry on an 800mhz duron machine, with 384mb of ram and a 32mb geforce 2, but nicely

Do the same for doom 3

Break as if it extracts enormous amounts of enjoyment from it, but always manages to fix itself?

And those aside, why it decided to swap the keyboard and mouse USB ports to the front, annoying me no end?

From what I heard, Doom 3 does that. Dunno about Far Cry. And those random things have happened to me too. Autorun decided to work after 3 years of not doing so, despite saying that it was turned on. One time, I turned on the computer, and it went to Safe Mode, and began showing me crazy error messages. It said all of these integral pieces of software had been uninstalled, etc. I let the messages run their course, and the computer restarted itself. Then, it was fine.
