I live pretty close to Mt. St. Helens (~80 miles or so), but not close enough to get any steam or ash here yet. It's just been plaguing the news, with one thing or another (often times just irrelevant fluff, unrelated to what is going on now).

It is not supposed to be anything like the 1980 eruption; I mean, there's no top left to blow off! :P

We had a discussion about it in Biology yesterday, several tremors have been recorded around other volcanoes; however, they are common.

I'm kind of hoping that it'll erupt soon, just to get it off the news. When they're doing features on 'How Mt. St. Helens got its name,' you know they're pushing it.

I live near the Appalacian (did I spell that right?) mountains and I never heard anything about volcanoes in them. There are a few fault lines though, so sometimes I'll get a little shake. Nothing major yet.

Let's see, NE USA is devoid of volcanoes and hurricanes, but we do get the occasional tropical storm/depression, minor earthquakes, and a few weak tornados. We do have massive blizzards and extremely cold winters. That's about it.

They've lowered the eruption level down to Level 2. Now they're saying there won't be a major eruption at the moment, but maybe later.

Hmm, it has been quite a few days since this topic was created, so I'm assuming it hasn't erupted yet. Or has it?

Anyhow, thank God there are no volcanos/hurricanes/tornados/ earthquakes in Malaysia. ^_^ We do get floods, but those are very minor, affect only small and minor places and only during the monsoon seasons.

Nope, no eruption yet. They've cut it down to five minute updates on the news, too. :D

I forgot to mention when I first posted...there isn't a town within 30 miles of the mountain. The only threat a minor eruption would hold would be affecting wildlife in the area. However, now they're saying it might be a larger eruption than expected. It just might take some time.

I really don't think its going to blow for a while, I think they will stop covering it in awhile if it dosen't blow, after awhile it will blow when they least expect us.

My prayers and thoughts to all who live near there, KEEP SAFE GUYS!

Do we happen to have any people that live within striking distance of Mount Saint Helens?

Trust me, it hasn't erupted yet, if it DID erupt, trust me, we'd all know. :)

Luckily for me I live on the other side of the US! :D
