Yeah I've never actually faded gradients before. I probably should have stuck with my original sig, but I wanted to try something I've never tried before...I have a strange fear of covering pictures with text because I can never seem to get it to look right...

Matching is more than just the same 'color.' Yes, the image of Zero has red and yellow. And yes, the background is red and yellow. But the shades are so completely different in how bright they are that they really don't go together. And the background makes the image stand out less, because you look at the set and the first thing you notice is the very brightly colored background.

ive read the comments so far, and it just seems that my images need to match more :P

well, just to justify, for the sake of justifying, i got lazy when i did the text. i couldnt think of anything, and I had a headache, so I thought of vertigo, and yea i didn't pay attention to what I was doing with the text border colors, as i had my monitors brightness/contrast settings on way too dark :P

/excuse knives = :loser:

You've made the details in the background scenery bright, which looks nice. The lady and the tramp text over the background doesn't look right...Maybe adjust it so all the same words aren't directly over one another. The main gont choice fits(seeing as it's a Disney movie.) The color of the av text and sig subtext doesn't match though. Also, in the av, you maybe should have edited it so just the one dog was visible.

Omgsh. That was the most informative (and well thought out) rating I've ever gotten, I think. I totally learned alot. The background text will definately be mixed up from now on. I didn't even think about it! And making the one pup in the av be the only pup visible would've worked much better, I will definately take that into consideration next time. The only thing I have to comment on (well I don't have to... but I will what the heck ;)) If you are speaking of the av/sig subtext border not matching, It's a white stroke with lowered opacity. But I see that might not have worked out so well.

Thanks Flame

Ack! I'll explain. I meant that the subtext didn't match the rest of the set. (Though if you understood that, I can't figure out...) :) And no prob.

And Knives...you do realize it might be sorta funny if you end up winning? :P And yes, you are a loser. But we love you anyway.

After posting my ratings and then reading Flames, I've just realized we said a lot of the opposite things... so I feel bad for the contestants, getting conflicting advice, haha.
Note to entrants: remember that the judges are using their personal preferences sometimes, and therefore ratings will be different. Based on what you read, just use your best judgment when making graphics.

Thanks for such insightful ratings, on my set and on everyone elses :)

This is a very different looking set due to it's size and the size of it's text. Get rid of the blue in the name. Give the set a pink border...The animation is also very nicely done. I'd maybe have scattered hearts here and there to fill some of the empty space though.

What do you mean by its size? I deliberately made the text larger, as when i was looking through other entries i found it quite hard to read some of the subtexts as they were so small, but that might just be me.
I did actually experiment with a pink border, but i couldnt quite work out which shade to use that didnt just blend in with the image totally and make it all look too pink. I like the scattered hearts idea though...

Rachel -- It's so cute! Good job with the matching colors. Almost exactly what I would have done ;P. The main text should have been moved downward, toward the center. Next time, try a pixel font or a shorter font, so that the bar isn't so thick. The gridlines are also a bit strong. Try lowering the opacity next time. The border is thick as well. If you use a double pixel border, try varying the shades of colors so that it doesn't look so bland.

I see what you mean about moving the main text, it does look a bit top heavy. I tried using a pixel font, but i cant seem to find any decent ones, they all looked odd, or too small to read. (if anyone knows of any good ones and fancied sending them to me, pm me :))

Oh! Doh! LOL. In Lady and the Tramp II, Danielle is the stupid fun pup and when she couldn't think of something to say she just goes "What they said!!" and points. I thought it was so cute.

Wow! Everyone likes it! :) Well, I was going to use Kovensky, but I have a secret about doing my subtexts that no one else can find out. Quote time! (and time to figure out where my CNR went time. Please don't mean you're gonna start freezing up on me again...)

Flame wrote:
Now THIS is a set where the large size is alright. This is one of the best you've done. First off, get rid of the blue animation. In the av, move her head down just a little bit. I don't have any major problems with the sig because it shows off the fanart well, but I'd choose a less jagged font. The drawings and overall look of the set is too, well, I guess you could say 'smooth' or 'soft' for the main font.

Well, I tried to make it the smallest possible, but that's the smallest it went. I just have to figure out which font to use. I didn't use Kathleeniefont on italic for the gazillionth time!

Koku wrote:
One of the best sets I've seen from you. The background is actually filled, and even though the text is all the way at the bottom, there's something filling the top to look at. I'd suggest a light purple for animation, though. The dark blue stands out too much.

Koku saying this is my best set? Holy Audio Adrenaline, say it ain't so! Wait...say it is so! *starts singing Dreams and then One Girl Revolution*

vkceanraz wrote:
Much better than your past entries, in terms of filling up space. However, I still consider it a part of the background, and therefore your text should be placed differently. The font is bad choice; it's too thin and hard to read. Perhaps you should have given it a thicker stroke. Again, the uneven subtext.... You guys, pick a font that doesn't have letters randomly taller than other letters, or use all caps!

I thought it didn't look too bad. However, I freehanded my text placement. (it's a long story.) But I really didn't see where I could put my text. The middle would've blocked the faces and the top would've blocked the heads. So the bottom was the only place to go.

To everyone: The reason the animation is blue is because the black would've looked way too bad, and the purple I was going to use blended it too much. But I do realize that the blue animation looks bad. I should be able to redo the animation (can't move her head down though. I only saved layers for the sig because the av was done next day. I'm a idiot.) tonight.

EDIT, OFF TOPIC: YAY! I FOUND MY CNR! It just wanted a update! 'Tis back! :) OK, my worries are over.

Well, I think the most you've done to this set is add text, as well as colorize it. But I think it was detailed enough that doing this was okay. I like the faint scanlines, as well as your font choice. Eh...but I almost think the colorization makes the girl and everything around her blend too much. It's hard to tell what everything is.

I love the picture, but while I was doing the set I realized that there are two things wrong with it: 1, I really really don't like the colors of the original image, and 2, there was very little I could do to the picture. :P I'll chose a better one next time.

laq-Nice colorization, and I like the soft faded lines. Once again, I see no problems with this set. The only thing I'd personally change is move the av next to the lower left instead of the right.

I'm the kind of person who always does the same thing everytime (i.e. text at the lower right), but I think because the picture is facing to the left, the text should be on the left. Thanks for pointing that out to me!

Love the shade of pink/magenta you used. I normally don't like pink, but it's sexy. I'm sad that the score didn't show up on the final result though; it was really pretty on the original image. No matter, you did a fantastic job. It's gorgeous.

I was pretty sad when I couldn't fit the musical notes into the picture, because then it loses a lot of it's "musical" quality. :( Ah well. (I have no idea what made me put "I'm coming" as a subtext. It has nothing to do with music as far as I can see O_o)

Precisely. Couldn't have said it better myself. ;)

I'm also very surprised at how many people are commenting on their ratings this time... O.o We never get this many.

Aaaah, ok then :) i generally make myself a 100 by 400 border on another layer to make sure i dont go over the size limit and then reduce the size to what i think looks right, i didnt want to reduce the size of the bears or chop any of the image off more than i did, so it stayed large :)
