I honestly doubt any of you Americans can pronounce my name, but yet. Most of you pronounce it "Sten" "Stine" or "Stih-jin". But yeah, for those of you that know a bit of German, try saying "Stein" which sounds about right.

Your name is easy :D I don't know how to pronounce it the wrong way.

toe-may-tee... not toe-mah-tee or too-matey :>

Well, I suppose it works, but it's not how I think of the syllables. =P

Erm, mine is pronounced can-da. You'd be surprised how times people have mistaken it for quanda (definitely more than 20), even though I would've thought it's spelling was rather obvious, especially with the capital Q.

"can-da", who'd have thunk it? I always just sort of said "Quanda... Cahnda... however you say it..."

You americans are weird.

When you have an "x" at the start of a word, it takes up a "z" sound.

Xerai thus isnt "ex-erai" its "zerai". Xylophone isnt "ex-eyelophone" is it.

Dr Xargoyle is pronounced "Dr Zargoyle"

Xil is pronounced "Zil"

You don't say the first letter of the word in its alphabetical version. You don't say "dee-on't" or "double-u-ant" do you.

And oh how it makes me laugh how americans say "EYE-RACK."

"Hi, me and the boys are going to eye-rack next week"
"Oh, really, i hear the weather in eye-rack is lovely"
"oh indeed, the eye-rack-ees enjoy very hot summers"
"but i hear the eye-rack has very little precipitation, is this true?"
"yes it is, eye-rack has very little rain"
"thanks, enjoy your trip to eye-rack"

Xerai is British, and Xil is Canadian.
I'm American, and I don't say eye-rack. I say "Ih-rock". I also pronounce "xerai" as "zerai", and "xil" as "zil", thus their explanations on how people think it's pronounced.

Ya know... I mispronounce my own first name.

It's "Chasity" and it's meant to be prounounced just that way, with a short 'S' sound and a hard 'T' sound.
That's how my parents and everyone else pronounces it.
But I say it "Chassidy" with a longer 'S' sound and a 'D' sound instead of a 'T'.
Which has led people in the past to believe my name was spelled that way.

Don't be afraid to see the truth, even if no one wants you to. Be yourself and not a fool. Don't ever be afraid to speak your mind and listen to criticism. Dissent is keeps our country progressive and willingness to challenge yourself is what keeps yourself ever evolving.

Wow, great topic!

Well, I guess I'm just A-tha-ra. A as in Alfa, tha as in tar, only with an H inbetween and ra as in... erm... ra?

Stijn is an easy name to pronounce. Don't be silly! :)

Edit: I'm still curious as to how o_O wants his name to be pronounced... Lol!
