I think I can see where you're coming from. I mean, it took me a while to grow to love them.. but Absolution's the only album I've heard (I can't find any of their other albums anywhere), and after I listened to it for a few weeks, I got to where I loved most of the songs. They've just got a different sound that takes getting used to.. but it's like, once you get used to it, you just looove it. Or at least, that's how it was for me.

But I've just kind of got this love for that whole crummy sounding at the beginning that builds up to be so incredibly awesome in the end kind of song.. like a lot of Coldplay's songs on Rush of Blood to the Head, and quite a few of Muse's songs, and several of Steve Burns'. Some of them build up to be so beautiful and powerful that I just can't not love them.

LINKIN PARK? ARE YOU JOKING?!?!?

let's talk about:

weezer
red hot chili peppers
coldplay
beck
the smashing pumpkins
radiohead
RADIOHEAD.
RADIOHEAD.

now, these aren't my favorite bands (although i do like them very much), but i recognise them as excellent music and will very likely be considered classics one day.

I love Weezer. Pinkerton is good.

BECK! I keep forgetting about that guy! I saw him on TV a few years ago and thought his music was so awesome. The only problem was that he has so many zillion thousand CDs out that I wasn't sure where to start. Would you happen to have any suggestions?

And I keep hearing about Radiohead! But it's kind of the same deal as Beck. I never really knew where to start, so I never did.

beck- start with odelay, then mutations. midnite vultures is an excellent album, but start with those two.

radiohead- DO NOT under any circumstances buy their three most recent albums if you're just starting out. the best radiohead album to start with is ok computer, but the bends is a very good one too.

i also forgot to add bjork to my list above.

Wow? Really. I thought Spice Girls had good voices.

Anywho how about Hanson (Although, they're still crap) and Green Day?

I thought of a lot this morning, now I can't remember any!

HANSON ARE WONDERFUL. i will defend them to the death!

however, i don't think they could make it onto a list of future classic bands.

MUSE! To be honest, they're amazing. Linkin Park and Muse are the two best I've ever seen live. And floella... I love you! Bet you didn't see that declaration of love coming, did ya? ;) :P Anyway, you've got great taste in tunes girl!

Dude. Yeah. But hm, I think that (in addition to Muse) Keane, Weezer and STEVE BURNS (I realize he's not a band, but hey, he rocks. And 1don't laugh XD) are pretty awesome. But I have really odd taste so I'm sure people out there right now are rolling their eyes. *whistles*

ARGH no Muse dissing! Unless you want to live anyway. :P I guess they're just an aquired taste.

*actually likes music from today*

I hate older music. I mean a few songs are ok, but I don't like many songs from before 1990. *shrugs* That's just me though.

I'm with Lass here. But then again...maybe it's an acquired taste too. The earliest I'll go is probably 1993, even so, not much in that year that I like. 1995 is where it starts getting a lot better for me (but I did only start listening to music in 1996).

I'm the same as Lass and Yoshi. I like bands/artists nowadays much better than my old favorite bands/artists back in the day (Hanson, Spice Girls, Snow). Now it's Evanescence, Lindsay Lohan, Eminem, Beyonce, Jojo, LL Cool J, Usher and the list could go on.

It's quite good actually, I listened to it the other day, and I like a lot of songs off it. :P Besides, Origin Of Symmetry is a great album, as is Showbiz, but Origin Of Symmetry rules all.

Ahem, I can see why you don't like them though. :P

Don't get me wrong, I love Radiohead. In fact, I was about to list Radiohead myself, but they don't fit the criteria. They weren't formed in the past ten years. They're a bit older.

Don't be afraid to see the truth, even if no one wants you to. Be yourself and not a fool. Don't ever be afraid to speak your mind and listen to criticism. Dissent is keeps our country progressive and willingness to challenge yourself is what keeps yourself ever evolving.

But think about it... Classic rock TODAY is considered what was 'popular' 20 years ago... 20 years from NOW, Britney Spears and all that computerized dung will be classic 'pop'... LOL.

In 20 years, do you not think that they will have a better no talent hack to listen to? No one will care about her or any of the pop princesses. They'll be sitting at home, trying to watch their soaps, telling their maids "I was Britney" and trying to deal with some major sagging issues.

God Bless you, Igg. Apparently Hungarian blood carries an inherrent taste in music.

If you want music to change, don't support the baby steps. Get out there and find some Indys to support! Hawaii Mud Bombers are a personal fave (Also The Insomniacs, Minus 5, Jet Cocktail Glass Slippers. Its as close as you're gonna get to Rock and Roll). Or show the support to some older bands that have cool sounds(Violent Femmes, Dictators, the Pretty Things, not to mention the obvious big times like Rolling Stones, the Kinks, the Who, the Ramones, etc.). Maybe then the studios will start taking the hint that we want substance. As long as we keep buying lip synchers and baby rockers, that's all we're gonna get. And I blame EVERYONE that has stated Linkin Park. Yes its decent, but we can take strides instead of baby steps, people. Sure its extra work to get indy rockers, but believe me baby, its worth the buzz.

I guarantee you that if you listen to Little Steven's Underground Garage on a local affiliate or over the web for free, you'll find something. To start you off, download The Dictator's Savage Beat. I expect to see a report about it on my desk by monday.
