My computer's memories seems to be increasing and decreasing. It's odd, one day it was 200MB now it's 5.00MB. It seems to be increasing to 9.00MB than depleting to 4.9MB, it's odd.

I don't understand why it's doing that. Anyone know?

Are you talking about RAM or HDD space?

Well, usually, RAM, if you're running low, your computer will start lagging alot. If you are running low on HDD space, for example, space on your C: drive, things will tell you you need more space, or low disk space, and things like that. Most computers will not run with 5.00mb left of RAM, so I'm pretty sure you're talking about HDD space. But if it is HDD space, Windows causes it to move around with your swap file and stuff like that, all I can reccommend doing is cleaning it out, or getting a new HD.

Dragonfire: Does your ISP use a proxy or something? You should try asking them, for I can access Gmail just fine.

Ummm.. its been a while since i've been to ppt.. and no I don't play neopets anymore.. since 2004

If it's hard drive space, then you should clear out some useless programs and files and do a scandisk and defrag. Scandisk will fix problems pertaining to the drive's allocation size. Defrag is just as it sounds. It puts pieces together to make your hard drive run more efficiently.

The problem with Defrag is it says it needs at least 10% of memory to run it where I have around %2. Scandisk always runs but freezes in the middle -- I left it on for an entire night and it stayed the same the next day.

Please, don't confuse memory with hard drive space. Hard drive space is never memory.

As for scandisk, try getting rid of any background applications. Ctrl+alt+del, and eliminate. If scandisk doesn't run under those conditions, tell scandisk to run on next boot. Make sure to delete any temporary internet files or any temporary installation files.

Whoops. Sorry.

I shall do that now.

Update: Okay, the disk defragment is not working and all the background applications were eliminated. And I don't think we have ScanDisk. We have 'Disk Cleanup' and that doesn't work -- it freezes.

I'm not sure if it uses a proxy, but I'm going to e-mail them. I also was able to access Gmail on my school's computers. THis is weird, because it just suddenly happened.

EDIT: Okay, I'm now able to access it. I think it had something to do with the security certificate. o.O

Defrag need atleast 10% percent free space to operate. Scandisk:
Start > Run > type chkdsk > click ok

I only have about 1% free space to operate on. Go figure.

And it says 'Windows cannot find the file name' for Scandisk.

I just downloaded Firefox 1.0, and I have one problem: I can't view PPT :( It keeps saying 'the operation timed out'. I've tried looking up help and the common response is to adjust certain values in about:config, which I tried but it didn't help. Any idea what to do?

What OS are you running? Sorry, I didn't ask you.

Gijinkagato: I have no clue. You can access in another browser?

OS = Operating System.

Windows XP, 98, etc.

Gone, forever.
