(If its fine with the others, its fine with me. I was going to ask you to do something of the sort, anyways.)

As they started towards their destination, Kaila cast a nervous glance towards some clouds in the northeast. She didn't know why she didn't like that particular cloud, it looked the same as all the others. But it didn't... feel the same. It felt different... evil, maybe.

(Just so you know, the cloud is not their destination. Yet.)

Darin hung on to one of the spikes on the gargoyle's back, "Wheeee!" he cried.

Yelgan howled in indignation at being carried.

"Oh quite whining!," the boy said, "This is fun!"

Yelgan just kept howling.

After another quick glance at the cloud, Kaila relaxed, enjoying the feel of the wind. It felt nice, and, although most of her hair was swept back into her face, it felt peaceful. This was her place, she belonged here. She grinned.

"Nope, nothing like a plane."

"Are we there yet?" Darin asked.

Yelgan barked.

"Oh... what about now?" he said.

The dog replied with a bark.

"Oh... now?"

To this Yelgan gave a snarl.

"Fine, fine, touchy!" Darin said in mock indignation.

After awhile, Kaila felt the Gargoyle starting to descent. She grinned, wondering what adventure they would have next.

When they landed, she got off, frowning slightly. "I know where we are," she said. "Pompeii. See? There's Mount Vesuvius over there. My parents and I were here once, when I was younger. I've never really liked this place, and got sick, so we left quickly."

Suddenly she felt dizzy. A wave of heat over rushed her, and she saw a wave of red. She felt herself falling, and grabbed onto the person closest to her, who happened to be Ramthura.

"Sorry. I lost my balance." Kaila said, grinning foolishly.

Then she saw something move. And, frowning once more, she went to go see what it was.

Age: 8
Gender: Female
Image: Light brown hair with blue eyes. Her hair is a mess, and her face is dirty, along with her close.
Other: She had accidently been left at Pompeii by her parents when this started, or thats what she lets them believe. During that time, she has thoroughly - or almost thoroughly, anyways- explored the volcano Vesuvius.

They felt like Them. Not the exact same, but pretty close. Even from this distance she could tell. Mainly because of the monster that had brought them here. She shivered, not necessarily from the cold.

One of them fell, and grabbed onto another of them. It was right before that time that she felt Their presence the strongest, and she shrunk back, causing a peice of paper to flutter down. Which caught the girl that had fallen's attention.

Mara shrunk back as the girl neared. However, it did not work. The girl had already seen her, after all.

"Hello, there. What are you doing here? Where are your parents, and everybody else?"

Mara whimpered once more, and then answered. "They're gone. All gone. I don't know where they went. I want my mommy, and I'm hungry..." she said.

The girls face flickered with uncertainty. "Are you sure?"

"Uh-huh. I'm sure. And I don't like you very much, you feel like Them."

"Them? Who's them?" the girl asked, lightly shaking Mara.

"I don't know! Just Them!" Mara said, starting to cry.

Iaran bowed to the gargoyle once everyone had climbed off its back. It bowed back and lifted off into the air. Iaran smiled and then turned to watch Kaila. Kaila was talking to a young girl who looked very scraggly and dirty. Iaran approached her cautiously, and managed to hear the girl talk about "Them", whoever they were supposed to be.

"Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to hurt you..." Kaila said, frantically. "Umm... you said you were hungry? I think I have a bag of trail mix or something that I had just in case I got hungry during break at school. Here it is, you can have it."

The girl looked at Kaila uncertainly, but when Kaila held out the bag, she grabbed it.

"It's alright. I swear, I didn't poison it or anything. I'm Kaila, what's your name?"

The girl hiccuped, and then answered. "Mara..."

"Okay, Mara. It's nice to meet you. And I pinky promise we're good, no crossies allowed." Kaila held out her pinky, but the girl shook her head no.

"Alright. Maybe later then. You see that volcano right there? That's where we're going, to get something that belongs to a friend of mine. Do you want to come with us? I'm sure it'll be alright..."

Mara brightened. "I think I know what you're talking about. I'll lead you there!"

Darin wheeled around infront of Kaila, "Whoa there fearless leader," he said, "What the heck are you doing? Do we know this girl? Do we know anything about her? She could be an enemy for all we know. Just cause she knows what we're talkinga bout dosen't mean she's on our side. We might just be getting her to... to you-know-what where she'll steal it from us. I don't mean to sound paranoid, but we have to careful right?"

Laruna stared as the gargoyle soared higher. Pompeii?? A minute ago they were underground.. She peered over the rocky back of the gargoyle down at the land below, and would have fallen off had she not gripped its back. This was making her feel dizzy...

However, slowly she felt them descending, and jumped off straightaway as they lightly touched down. Kaila and Darin were talking to a little girl obviously from the region; Runa had caught her name to be Mara. She was small, and looked to be about seven; however very scruffy and dirty. She joined in the conversation.

"Darin is right, Kaila...but isn't this the best chance we've got?"

She watched as the girl snatched the food from Kaila, and suddenly a new problem arose in her mind. Where were they going to get their food from, from now on?

Mara paused, eyes widening. "But... but I'm not. I want my mommy and daddy, that's all. I was hoping you would help me find them..." She shuddered, and once again started to cry.

Kaila sighed. "Iaran... I dunno if you can do this, but, you know..." she nodded her head towards Mara. "Check her."

Mara shuddered again. They didn't believer her. All she wanted to do was help...

Iaran looked at the young girl, she hesitated then nodded, "Can the rest of you try to keep your minds as blank as possible for a little while. I'm not used to having my shield down and it'll be easier without your thoughts interferring."

She slowly closed her eyes and removed her shield very carefully. Her mind was harassed slightly by the thoughts of the others but she soon pushed them aside and drew her attention to the thoughts of the girl. Memories and sad thoughts filled her head, this young girl had been through a lot, however she sensed that the girl was hiding something. In fact, the girl almost seemed surreal. She carefully pushed the girls thoughts away and put her shield back up before opening her eyes. She touched Kaila's arm slightly and turned them both away from the girl, she whispered to her, glancing back once or twice at the girl, "She's definitely telling the truth, she has been left here. However there's something strange about her. It's like... a surreal kinda feeling. And her memories.... there seem to be too many for a child that young. We can trust her for now, I'll tell you if I sense anything else."

Laruna nodded and tried to clear her mind. Now that Iaran had found the stone, she trusted her almost completely.

However, she was worried about what Iaran was saying.

"Memories too many for her age? That's very weird...are you sure?"

Mara blinked nervously. What had just happened? Something had been invading her... but more to find if she was telling the truth than anytthing else. As the one Kaila had called Iaran whispered something to Kaila, Mara knew what happened.

She looked up, and saw the one Did she know, had she seen...? It didn't matter much, but her mother had told her to keep it a secret...

"Well, lets go then."

(Her secret won't be revealed in this role play, or at least much of it. I am planning on doing a sequal to this where it will be revealed.)

((Okay, actually, I was thinking that the child would be like a spirit or ghost or something. But her having a secret is much cooler anyway ))

Darin muttered something about being too trusting.

Yelgan growled something to the same effect. But without further ado they began their trek up the mountain.
