And... Istan? The ending wasn't really supposed to be surprising at all, considering Christian's first words are "This story is about love, the woman I loved is.. dead." And then he goes on to tell the story of what had happened the previous summer.

No, I'm very aware of that fact, I did watch the film.
I'm talking about everything that happens in the movie. All the plot twists were as transparent as glad cling wrap, the characters were entirely see-through and uninteresting.
And also, as I already mentioned, none of the emotions seemed anything more than plastic overdramatized acting. And the musical numbers were gaudy but not in an enjoyable way like RHPS.

I didn't pay much attention when we rented Moulin Rouge so I can't say I hated it. I didn't know that most (if not all) of the music was taken from already well known songs. I admit I found that disappointing. But ah well.

They wanted the greatest songs from the 20th century or something. Thus the only 'original' song is "Spectacular, Spectacular".

And I liked the movie.. :(

Oh Lord. We had to watch "Patch Adams" at school because -- so says my teacher -- it deals with "medical ethics." Right.

This is the lamest tearjerker of a movie I think I've ever seen. My fellow classmates fell for it, but I'm way too cynical to be pulled in by this "Professionalism is bad! Rules are EVIL!" BS. A few examples of this idiocy:

Patch Adams (Robin Williams), who appears to be a wrinkled 50, falls for a blonde student who looks to be about 19. When they made-out, I felt like puking all over my desk. If a guy that age started hitting on me, I would have had the campus police over in three minutes flat.

Halfway through the film, this afforementioned girlfriend is murdered in a thoroughly ambiguous way. Despite the heavy piano music, I wasn't sad, just in a state of oh-my-god-what-just-happened. It went straight from the girl having tea at some dude's house to the friggin funeral.

An especially cheesy scene after the chick dies involves Patch contemplating suicide over a cliff. As he looked down hundreds of feet below, I shouted "DO IT!" The whole class heard me, the guys cracked up, and the girls chided me for it. "Sorry, but I hate this movie." They couldn't understand how anyone wouldn't fall in love with this crap...anyway, a butterfly -- which evidently represents the chick -- flies onto his hand, and of course he gains a blooming sense of hope and sets out on his quest once again. Lord.

Basically, this movie is about one moron running around making an idiot of himself in order to make some cancer-riddin children giggle. He puts a clown nose on, dances with some old hag in a pool of spaghetti, and throws balloon animals at a sleeping geezer. This is the worst movie I've ever seen. If you ever catch a glimpse of it at Blockbuster, run fast and far.

I'd have to say the worst movie I ever saw was probably City of Angels. I went in needing that Meg Ryan romantic movie buzz, but got Nicholas Cage angst. The ending left the viewer hopless and in a state of confusion-- while some cynics I know loved the movie for that message, I found it very aggrevating.

But it was probably because I wanted a cliche romance, and wasn't especting a lame tragedy.

The original!? Great, that just about counters mine...

Texas Chain Saw Massacre (the recent one) - Instead of the "Don't go in there!" feeling you should usually get in a horror flick, I got more of a "Hand me the chainsaw and I'll kill them" feeling. That was before they even got out of their vehicle... The only character I could stand was the main character. This movie also has almost NOTHING to do with the original. If you are going to make a remake of a movie, please let it have SOME similarities in it besides a guy with a chainsaw.

Have you seen the first one? Just curious.. I really don't recommend it... but just to know HOW utterly annoying the main girl is in that movie. you have to watch it.
I mean all that wench does (when everyone starts to die) is scream... scream... scream some more.. and.. what's that? yep.. you guessed it.. scream.

*Spoiler!!!*

Even at the end where she's saved... she's looking back screaming... seriously.
It's UBER UBER UBER annoying and I swear I was about to jump through the tv and shut her up myself.

You'd be screaming too if you were chased by a dude with a chainsaw, tied to a chair, cut, bruised, hurt, had all your friends die, including your brother....

Wasn't arguing if I would be.. wasn't arguing if someone in that situation really would be.
Still doesn't change the fact that it was still annoying as crap IN MY OPINION. ;)

Wasn't Patch Adams based on a real doctor in the sixties?

Here's another crappy Robin William during "serious" movie phase, What Dreams May Come.

Talk about tediously slow & boring and at times nausiating (?). It has some cool visuals. I want my two hours back.

(And I haven't watched it in years, so I might not like it if I watched it now. ::shrugs:: Just had to mention it. =P)

Yeah, he should sue the producers for defamation of character.

Because I've never met the guy, and I already hate him.

That doesn't justify anything. That's extremely ignorant. I used to think that way until I saw a comedy in black and white and it was hilarious. Most of your new hollywood movies are re-made from black and white films.
