*feels special*

I have romeo and juliet homework!

Find well known/famous quotes from romeo and juliet

Any suggestions?

I studied it last term - there's quite a few. *searchs for book*

"My only love, sprung from my only hate!
Too early seen unknown, and known too late!"
(Act I Scene V)

"O Romeo, Romeo! - whereforeart thou Romeo?
Deny thy father and refuse thy name.
Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love,
And I'll no longer be a Capulet."
(Act II Scene II)

"What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other word would smell as sweet."
(Act II Scene II)

Those are three that sprung to mind instantly...also, the prologue is quite famous - I can't remember it and I don't have the full text at home, but you can probably Google it or look in your copy. You could also try looking in Act V Scene V for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet - there's probably a few there.

Kyra wrote:Err, well the grade sevens at my school are doing a math test from the School Board, and it has algebra in it. Thing is, I was never taught algebra. Could someone explain it to me, please? One of the quesitons was "4x-5=19 x=______" *feels stupid*

Well, if you were never taught algebra, you can't be expecte to know it...
The goal in algebra is to get x by itself (isolate the variable) by taking everything else away from it. So...

4x-5=19
Add 5 to both sides
4x=24
Divide both sides by 6
x=6

You can check that this is true because if you substitute x into the equation:
4(6)-5=19
24-5=19
19=19
Which is obviously true.

Okay, I know, that was a terribly crappy explanation, so sorry. Hope it helps a little anyhow. :P

*tackle* Thanks so much. I get it now. ^_^ Thank you!

have you written your presentation already?
if you like, we had to do soemthing similar in political studies *don't ask me why, my teachers a bit weird, but funny*

did you know, WA is not mentioned in the preamble of the constitution? we are the only state (excluding territory) that is not mentioned. we didn't want to join the federation, and also, we are not highly represented in the house of reps, only in the senate (due to the voting systems used) we contribute a fair amount to the federal tax system, but often get shortchanged in the federal budget (according to my teacher) we are also separated from the rest of the country, by, the rest of the country :P

and as for the prsentation part, could you do powerpoint? or at least, print out some photos of john forrest, who was the governor of WA at the time and who opposed federation, and pass them around the class. there is aice big statue of him in kings park if you are really interested in mentioning him.

thats about all i know, we don't do it as in depth as the people who study history (they get to do australian history)

I believe that's actually because the electorates are divided up by population, rather than size. Although Western Australia is quite large, there's not as many people in it as New South Wales. NSW has the most electorates because it's got the largest population, followed by Victoria.
Tasmania has the least amount of electorates, 5, and that's only because there's something written in the constitution stating that there must be at least 5 representatives from each state.

Yea I had basically those points... my partner forgor their lines and it wasn't that great, but I think we got a few extra points for originality. One of the other groups did a song though :?

There was actually a WA referendum dring the thirties which the majority of WA voted to have WA become its own country, but England overruled the descision and it never happened :)

Thanks!

I've got a term essay due on Thursday, and I've got all the points I could think of. However, I wouldn't mind a little extra help with brainstorming. :wink:

The topic is: How does Pope in "The Rape of the Lock" uses heroic couplets to add/augment meaning?

The stuff I have so far are:
~ He's using epic conventions to "elevate" the whole incident, and heroic couplets are part of that.
~ The second line can often be used to parallel/contrast the first line.
~ He can make puns.

There's stuff I would like to write about as well.. like I'm sure what words are being used to rhyme probably hold some significance, but I can't figure out what it is. And also, my teacher scribbled "Why does he use heroic couplets to describe Belinda" on my draft, and I'm rather sketchy about that.

So anyway, any help would be much appreciated!

I am tutoring gr10 science, and my student is on magnets and its forces etc. Now, I never had magnetic forces in gr10, only in gr 12 physics, and I didn't learn that very well... anyway, can someone refresh me on the principles? like right hand rule, and any laws or important theory/concepts? links to websites would be helpful too ^-^

Thank you!

I Googled it. Try this site. It has an animated demostration of the right hand rule.

Even if school is almost over for most people, you forget stuff during the summer, so you could always just ask about things you think you might need for next year, or things you are interested in.

Thu Jun 17, 2004 2:12 pm

also people in australia still have 3 or so weeks of school left *and believe me, i need all the help i can get with my homework* :roll:

Sun Jun 20, 2004 2:11 am

Yea but its 3 weeks, then 2 week break, then another 10 weeks...
