Yeah, it's possible Alex ran off on his own, but uh...where to? Maybe to... *gasp!* Cavetown with the plane crash survivors??
It's obvious Sayid is going to go searching for the Black Rock, but I hope he goes back to Cavetown and at least tells the others about what Rousseau said.

Well, as for whether or not Alex is with the current castaways, I don't believe he is, but I think he might be watching them. If I'm correct about Alex being the one to bash Sayid on the head and keep him from setting up his transciever-thing, he might not want them to leave the island for... some reason.
Re: the dead bodies in Cavetown, I dunno what they're all about yet, but I'm sure it's relevant to the plot somehow.

Hmm.. I have no theories on where Alex is. Could've been the person who thunked Sayid over the head, or they could be dead and Danielle there just hasn't come to grips that her child is dead.
And from what I was getting, although she didn't say it. I thought that perhaps she and her crew of people were the ones who brought the animals.
Just her comments about what those animal noises were and yadda yadda blah blah.
I certainly don't think the island is some "Eden" or anything though. I've seen that theory on the official boards at ABC.. and just bleh.
Just seems too simple to be something like that.

I disagree [with many things]. Why would it be Alex who hit Sayid on the head? Would he just go up, hit him, then run away? Hit and run, baby... I don't think so.
Secondly, I disagree with the show (lol) on the French lady (her name escapes me). I don't like how she was just thrown in there, then out, in the same episode. Oh, my, how the tables would turn if she came back to camp.
And speaking of camp... I want Sawyer to just die. Even though he's all human being and touchy-feely about that letter thing, I want him to just die. Damn Sayid. Shoulda stabbed somewhere else.

He is one of my favourite characters (Charlie is #1 and Claire is #2).
Alex could possibly be a girl, because Alex could be short for Alexandra or something... Also, the person that hit Sayid made a noise that sounded like a female...

Alex could definately be a girl. She didn't say "my son" or "my daughter", she said "my child".
My theory is that she was pregnant, and possibly didn't even realize it until after her husband had already died/disappeared/whatever.
So then she was pregnant and most likely alone, unless there are others on the island. And she gave the child the non-gener-specific name Alex, because she had no way of knowing it's gender. And then it came time to give birth.
She gave birth, and promptly passed out without even seeing whether the child was a boy or a girl. Or possibly passed out during labor. Either way, when she woke up, the baby was gone. Maybe a mechasaur (=P) ate it, maybe a polar bear ate it, or someone took it. She believes someone took it.
So she sets up traps to catch whoever took her baby. And Sayid walks into the trap. She assumes he must be the one who took Alex, because she can't grasp the thought of more and more and more people being on the island.
But now she knows, thanks to Sayid she knows that there's more and more people. So she's gonna go spy on them. And as she spies on them, she notices pregnant Claire. And decides that since one of the castaways must have taken her baby (none of them did of course, but she's crazy) she's going to take a baby back. So she gets it in her head to steal Claire's baby, which TOTALLY ties into the previews we've seen for the next episode =D

About the hit and run thing.. Funny. A guy tripped a kid at our old highschool, and the principle called the cops on a hit and run (Or so the rumor goes)
